“From the moment I walked into The Bitter End, I knew that night was going to be one to remember. The energy from such an intimate setting could do nothing but turn April Peters' performance all the way up! I walked in on April’s performance of “Turn it Up,” looked for a seat, then decided—nahhhh—sit for what? I couldn’t do anything but continue to stand and party!! April’s energy is electric and commands everyone on their feet. The BAND! Oh the Band! Funk, soul, rhythmic and just boss all across the board! Would love to see her again, anywhere she performs. #turnitup #summer2015.

Dance music usually isn’t known for combining fun with a great message. Think about it: when was the last time you listened to a song that made you want to dance, but also left you with a substantial message and fed your soul, as well? I’ll wait! See?
Well, if that’s what you’ve been searching for, look no further than this amazing single from singer-songwriter extraordinaire, April Peters. This song is perfect for www.lovenwords.com, because it’s all about celebrating the uniqueness of YOU.
Aptly titled, “Turn It Up”, it combines disco beats with modern dance pop, creating a staccato of sounds that really does make you want to “turn it up.” Hot beat aside, this song reminds us all to embrace ourselves fully & reject the idea that we’re too much. With lines like, “Too short, too tall/Too big, too small/Too smart, too dumb/That’s what they claim/Sticks & Stones may/Break my bones/But come on, son/I know my name”, April encourages us, in her amazing voice, to reject the natural inclination to shrink in fear around people who misunderstand us – asking us to go big, refusing to shrink & withdraw; being no one but our fabulous selves. How cool is THAT?!
Enough talk, though! Get into this song!!! Download it on iTunes... - Love 'n Words

Has social media gone from a tool for finding a network to finding a net “worth”? So I was at my friends fab fundraiser event about a month ago and this woman was walking around in this long printed dress that was to die for. “April Peters is an emerging new artist who uses her past experiences, talent and passion for change – to create a new voice in adult contemporary music.” ~ Monarch Magazine, Summer 2011
April, born in the “city of brotherly love,” always knew her destiny was song. And it is the revelation that words have the power to heal which inspires her songwriting.
In anticipation of her 2nd studio EP, TransMusic, April recently released the first single, Turn It Up, a Euro pop, R&B crossover dance track, about "refusing to hide and dim your light in the face of intimidators... singing louder, dancing crazier, speaking up, walking fly, and... living life with courage and integrity, fully aware, sober and awake!”
April penned each song on her debut EP, Early Bloomer (2010), then joined forces with Philadelphia's Donald Robinson, producer behind such artists as Vanessa Williams and Rachelle Farrell, and with spoken word artist CC Word. April passionately tells her story in song of growing up too soon and navigating real life issues—loss, love & forgiveness.
April traveled to West Africa on a mission where she performed and made radio appearances, encouraging Liberia's people scarred after civil war. Her songs draw from her life experiences, as she is no stranger to pain, having witnessed domestic violence and abuse as a child. She chose to release her EP Early Bloomer during Domestic Violence Awareness month, to bring attention to this issue. Monarch Magazine hailed April as an “exceptional [person] empowering others to become exceptional”. April has opened for singing duo Mary Mary and sung before iconic women such as Winnie Mandela and Jennifer Holliday.
April will expose additional layers of her sound and creative point of view on TransMusic—a "retro-robotic" sound fusing pop, rock, soul, and electronica, along with live and acoustic records.
