"Seven Secrets"

"Seven Secrets" is going to please all the folks who have been waiting since 2004's
"When the Love Ran Deep" for some new music from the singer/songwriter. As usual
Anne Marie wraps her acoustic guitar around insightful and colorful lyrics. She knows
how to grab the listener with a simple melody here or a nice turn of phrase there.
In fact, "Seven Secrets" actually shows Menta's growth as a songwriter. These tunes are
more fully formed than the ones on the very good "Love Ran Deep." The record....was
produced by the great Dick Neal. He even helped pen a couple of songs. A very good
group of musicians, including Neal, Vic Steffens, Jordan Jancz, Katie Wilson, Scott
Lebish and Mark Mirando lend a hand to a few tunes."

"When the Love Ran Deep"

“Singer - songwriters working in the folk tradition aren't hard to find. Those who keep you interested are. Hamden-based Menta falls in with the latter. While she isn't doing anything new- the 12 cuts on 'When the Love Ran Deep' are typical folk-informed pop and the lyrics largely deal with falling in and out of love and finding one's self- she exudes such a pleasant warmth that it's hard not to like her.”--- Ray Hogan, Stamford Advocate, Stamford, CT. (2004) - Stamford Advocate

"Untried & True"

"This debut album is immediately noted for the quality of the songwriting. Menta knows how to set the mood with a catchy chorus and capture big feelings in the small details of a story...There is a strong sense of time and place hat gives emotional impact without resorting to sentimentality... Whether the songs are going for something deep of light, they are consistently well-crafted.” --- Michael Devlin, Music Matters Review, Smithtown, NY (1999)

Bio

I come from a family of three brothers in Hamden, CT where playing and listening to music was our great passion. My musical credits include fronting various rock & roll, folk, and country bands as a singer/guitarist, including The Wanderers, where I "interned" as the guitarist /girl singer under the watchful eye of my big brother.

While in these bands, I began to sneak my own songs into the set list alongside the songs of Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Emmy-Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, etc.

I abandoned the cover bands and released my first CD in 1999 called Untried & True. I became an established singer songwriter in the local CT music scenes and gained local airplay.

My goal is to draw the listener into the world of my stories, big or small. My hope is that the romantic, nostalgic, sad, or hopeful elements of my songs reach the audience in some small way. The real deal writers that I have admired like Jimmy Webb, Hank Williams, Joni Mitchell, Rosanne Cash, Lucinda Williams, Merle Haggard, Lennon/McCartney , etc., have done more than I can ever say for me.
