"Amber Lynn Nicol"

Amber loves classic rock, R&B, and acoustical music the most, listing her influences as being such artists as Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Melissa Etheridge, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Tom Petty, The Eagles, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. - Tampa Bay Music Scene Historical Society

"The Test Drive: Painted Fish"

The sultry vocals of singer Amber Lynn Nicol combined with the Peter Buck, Johnny Marr styled chord progressions of Tristan Willard and a rhythm section deep in powerful bass tones and driving drums Painted Fish seem poised to make a big splash in a small pond! The album starts with the stylistic jam “Bigger Bedroom” and refuses to let up after that. The hooks are ever present throughout the album with the end result being a solid album all the way through. I absolutely fell in love with Amber’s vocals in particular. She almost seems like that old girlfriend you secretly yearn to be back with but will never see again with her melodic crooning combined with a constant harmony that definitely stays with you. Well done! - Jammerzine

Bio

Amber Lynn is a songwriter/producer, classically trained singer and self-taught guitar and piano player. Her 6th studio album, “Electric Love” comes out in Spring 2016. When Amber Lynn isn’t touring the US, she enjoys writing and performing around her hometown, St. Petersburg, FL. Raised on the East Coast, bouncing back and forth between New Jersey and Florida, Amber Lynn grew quite accustomed to being on the road. She is the oldest of four children, all creatively and musically inclined. Her mother and step-father own an olive grove in North Florida and her father is an Electronic Engineer. Amber Lynn’s first job was at age 12 at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ where she ushered and sold tickets in the box office. She attended many shows during that time and was heavily influenced by seeing acts like Ray Charles and Pat Benatar, and the musicals that often came through. She always had a love for music. She wrote songs and poems even as a small child. At age 15, when her family finally settled in Florida for good, Amber Lynn worked for another historic music venue, this time as a booking agent until she started college where she pursued an Associates degree in music performance and then began recording her first EP, “Beach Day." Since then, Amber Lynn has continued to write, record, and perfect her sound while touring and building a grassroots fanbase throughout the US. Her cited influences include Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Radiohead, The Black Crowes, Jewel, ACDC, Janis Joplin, Jim Croce, Kasey Chambers, and everything rock, blues, pop, folk and country. Amber Lynn is also a writer, children’s poet and a painter.
