All Skate is based in Austin and plays original, soul, funk, samba and reggae.
In 70s roller-rink slang, "All Skate" means, "Everyone, do your thing." And, in a town filled with original music, the band All Skate is definitely a little iconoclastic. Funky, melodic, hypnotic, and sometimes bright and ethereal, these musicians combine influences that are a little out of the ordinary. Mixing reggae, samba and northeastern Brazilian rhythms with American soul and funk, the All Skate rhythm section generates a fat groove that backs two gifted and powerful lead vocalists. Harmonies flow throughout All Skate's show, and the band's catalog of original songs and covers range from bossa nova and reggae to deep funk to energized pop.
