Saturday, March 1, I found myself back at Musica for another show. I think this is becoming a really cool habit. I’m going to keep the intro short and move right into introducing the bands.
First to hit the stage was local, indie pop/rock band, Allen Cruz & The Galaxy. I was immediately impressed by this 4-piece band. When I arrived at Musica they were doing a cover of a Whitney Houston song. The name escapes me at the moment, but they rocked it. I personally think that they played it so well because they already have an older sound. When they moved on to original songs you could really hear it. I felt like I should have been hand dancing instead of standing in the back. My favorite from their set would have to be “Hugs n’ Kisses.”
I also got a chance to chat with Allen and pick up a cd. He seems like a pretty cool, quirky guy. I would definitely recommend everyone check them out. -

Bio
Allen is a singer songwriter from Chicago Illinois, now residing in a small town in Ohio. He is no stranger to the stage, opening for such acts such as Ryan Cabrerra, Alex Goot, and Youtubes Premier national music tour The Digitour. His Youtube music videos are quickly getting noticed as well, being featured as the introduction song to Michael Buckleys What the Buck show and having a total 120,000 views on his Youtube channel in the last year. After releasing an acoustic EP on iTunes he soon enlisted the help if his friends Josh Huddleston, Paul Merendino Jr., and Brian Crace to give his songs a new life and energy. They quickly became a tight knit group naming themselves, Allen Cruz and The Galaxy in reference to a popular comic book title. Their music can best be described as Jazzy Pop Rock. Taking influences from Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Michael Buble and Bruno Mars, you can expect a good combination of catchy pop hooks, jive, and lots of energy. Although the band performs original music, they also have a wide variety of covers ranging from jazz standards, 80s pop songs, and modern top 40 hits. Their quirky and fun attitudes translate perfectly on stage, you should always expect dancing, witty banter, tight musicality, and soaring vocals. Make sure to subscribe to the youtube channel, follow on social networks, and groove with Allen and The Galaxy at a show!
