Samuel Alexander Johnson, II was born on February 25, 1985 in San
Bernardino, Ca. Growing up for Samuel wasn't easy. He started hanging
out with the wrong crowd at an early age due to not really having a
stable father figure in his life. Samuel was involved with street gang
activities, selling drugs and just being a complete nuisance to his
enviorment.
At the age of 19, Samuel gave his life
to Christ but this was just the beginning of the road to come. Early on
in Samuels new beginning he still struggled with letting go of certain
things of the world. Samuel had a passion for music. He loved to write,
rap, and sing. In his old life most of the people that knew him, knew
him by the name of "Soloist" which meant that most of the time he liked
to committ trouble or do things to get him in trouble solo to get more
credibility in his neighborhood. AJ used music as his exscape go from
his everyday problems that he had in life. When AJ gave his life to
Christ he knew God was preparing him for a new message to give to the
streets.
In 2008, AJ Formerly known as " Soloist " put together
his first Christian mixtape, "Story To Be Told", he made sure that this
mixtape would hit the streets. So everyday for several months he
faithfully stood in front of stores all throughout the Inland Empire
spreading the message that God gave him. AJ has traveled and performed
at places such as, Cali Fest in Bakersfield, High Schools in Arizona and
churches all throughout southern California Toured around the United
States and out of the country in Mexico. He has done interviews for X
Radio Las Vegas. His videos have been featured on da south.com and
Rapzilla. His music has also been played on many internet Christian
radio stations worldwide.
In February 2010,AJ Formerly known as
"Soloist" dropped his first debut album "1 Year Project". The album sold
over 600 copies in its first 3 months of its release. The album is now
featured on itunes, napster, amazon, and can be purchased at almost any
online store available. AJ Formerly known as "Soloist" also released his
second mixtape, "Behind The Music", in the late summer of 2010. The
mixtape created an even stronger buzz for Soloist. Not only did he get
hundreds of downloads but he also got offered a recording contract from
Tate Music Group.
Now in the year 2013, Soloist has continued
to go hard for Christ with his highly anticipated mixtape, "Motivation
Musik Vol.1", which droped July 15th 2011. AJ Formerly known as
"Soloist" also has a new album " Stars & Stripes " to be released
3/4/14. As for now, AJ continues to spread the Gospel and let the light
of Jesus lead his path to seek out the lost, and motivate the righteous.
