"INTERVIEW WITH MUSIC ARTIST AISSA TORRES"

I had the privilege to interview music artist Aissa Torres her lyrics are meaningful and she inspires people with her positive messages. From dance tracks, to pop, romantic ballads and rap she is extremely talented and versatile. Read more about her music in the interview below.

Tell us about your music
I feel that my music is feel-good music. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to dance, motivates you to move your body, and resonates lyrically with people and what they may go through in their lives. It’s up-tempo and upbeat. The songs I create are a reflection of me, what I am feeling at the time, but also keeping in mind who my audience is, and how they may feel or identify with what I write. I love to make the kind of music that inspires people and gets people thinking positively about their day and their lives.

What do you like most about your profession?
I love interacting with people from all facets of this industry from musicians, to producers, to promoters, to fans. I feel that this is a great avenue to demonstrate my versatility as an artist, and to collaborate with others on similar ideas. Most of all, I love to perform on stage!

What’s your favorite album from another artist?
Hands down, my favorite album is The Fugees- The Score.

What song of yours are you most proud of?
I am proud of all my works of art, my babies, as I like to call them. But I think that BOUNCE, my song that hit the FM radio airwaves, would be the one that I am mostly proud of because it’s something that has gotten my voice across to so many listeners.

What is the formula for success as a music artist?
It’s not enough to try once. You have to keep going and keep asking and keep being a bug in someone’s ear until they finally give you a shot. You will hear no a million times over. But if your work is quality, and you believe in yourself and what you do, then you have to keep networking and getting your name out there in a positive light. My advice is simple, follow through, and follow up. If anyone can say anything about me, they will tell you that I am not a quitter and that I never, ever give up. - Nora Gouma

On what occasion would I lie?
Lying is not a trait that I admire in anyone. I don’t think there’s ever a real occasion for it.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
I believe that there are so many opportunists and people who want to take advantage of others in this business. Instead of helping, many are out to hurt others.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
I would say that when I wrote a song called “Secret” that came to me in a dream. I was so happy when I went to record it and my fiance was there at the studio while I was recording it. Little did I know, he was writing lyrics to my song. When I came out of the booth, he decided to show me what he wrote and we, my engineer and I, loved it so much, we had to have him do it. I believe that song is a success because of our unique collaboration on it.

If I could, what would I change about myself?
I would change nothing. This is who I am. I am not perfect, I am just me!

Bio

When you first hear Aissa Torres, you are instantly taken back to the 80’s where old school Hip-Hop, Pop, and R&B were deep in your veins, not just in your boom box. What makes her style unique is that she took that influence and made it new, made it fresh, with upbeat tempos, catchy hooks, and long lasting melodies. She makes heartfelt tracks that take you through a roller coaster of emotions, from dance tracks to romantic ballads to rap. She has touching and meaningful lyrics with strong and positive messages and is inspired greatly by wanting to make music that touches someone. Now working on her fifth album, Aissa is looking forward to creating some eye-opening rap songs, rock, and pop, and getting more people on the dance floor with her music. Stay tuned!
