Against the Slate began with a vision. While at work one day, Ryan (Bass/Vocals) was stopped in his tracks when he saw his band standing on stage, playing music before a sea of people. But there was a problem...Ryan wasn't in a band. So he recruited Walter (Guitar/Vocals) who was a long-time friend and fellow musician. As a duo they began working on songs and crafting their sound, but the picture was not yet complete. Trevor (Lead Guitar/Mandolin) joined the band after answering an ad ATS placed on Craigslist for a lead guitar player. Trevor would later bring Jake (Drums) into the band through their churches' joint music ministry events. The addition of Trevor and Jake has not only enhanced and broadened the band's sound, but has also put ATS in a place where they are fulfilling Ryan's vision of one day standing on stage, before a sea of people, playing their music.
