"Review of the band's first CD"

After Midnight has its roots buried deep in the Benny Goodman Sextet tradition. Same instrumentation - clarinet, vibraphone, piano, guitar, bass and drums - and arrangements that echo those of the BG six. Playing Goodman-based charts can be fraught with peril unless you have skilled musicians in every chair. After Midnight does. - American Rag

"Opus 1/2"

Your new CD is delightful! Very nicely done...it swings like mad. It should get considerable airplay. Congrats! - KUVO Radio

Bio

For many years, Clarinetist Roger Campbell dreamed of playing the music of the Benny Goodman Sextet. In 1997, that dream became reality when he teamed up with Vibist Rick Weingarten to play some of the best swing music ever written -- but with a little modern twist. Rather than recreate what Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Teddy Wilson, Gene Krupa, and Charlie Christian mastered, After Midnight injects some modern style into those hits. We also incorporate music from Artie Shaw and his Gramercy Five plus other great swing music recently made popular by the likes of Dianna Krall, Norah Jones, Madelline Peroux, Michael Buble, and Harry Connick Jr. We even play a few Ray Charles hits, just for fun!

Our instrumentation is unlike any other band in the region and very few in the world -- we feature Clarinet, Vibraphone, Piano, Bass, Guitar/Vocals, and Drums.

We've done thousands of concerts, weddings, events, festivals, dances, and clubs over the years. Some of the more memorable ones include:
Sacramento Jazz Jubilee
Capital City Jazz Festival
Evergreen Jazz Festival
Taste of Colorado
Cherry Creek Arts Festival
Jazz in the Sangres Festival

It's tight, fun, exciting, danceable, and hugely popular among the jazz and swing crowds. It's time for After Midnight!
