Adam Kellum

I’ve been singing for the better part of my life. Between singing in the choir at church and singing along with the radio on the long trips to town, I honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t sing. Around age 14 I found interest in a young woman that attended school with me. Being from a small west Tennessee town I figured the only way to set myself ahead of the other guys would be to learn to play the guitar. Years after teaching myself to play guitar I'm still playing and I love it more now than ever. I began songwriting around age 17. I remember talking with someone who would become a wonderful mentor for my life and my music and him telling me "sometimes things are just better sang than spoken". After writing tons of songs, I still find that statement more true than most any other advise I've ever received. My music is a reflection of challenges and troubles I've faced but also memories of good times I've had and lessons learned. I prefer to write in an open form. I like to allow the listener to perceive what the song means to them. I do not write pop style country. I write and perform more traditional style country. Being that I have a vast amount of influences from Western Swing to Red Dirt to Southern Rock, my music comes out a little different but it still has a familiarity that makes you feel like you've heard it somewhere!
