Able Baker began in 2014 as a bedroom solo recording project of Tim Anderson in his first year of college at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Tim quickly found his way into Eau Claire's DIY basement show scene and played coffee shop gigs and house shows around town until transferring to the University of Minnesota in 2015. Despite several unsuccessful attempts to form a long term live band for Able Baker during the three years he lived in Minneapolis, Tim demoed songs relentlessly and recorded Fall Through Sparks with his high school friends Scott Fabbri, Cal Jurgella, and Adam Jordahl in Madison during breaks from school. The group did a small Midwest tour in the summer of 2017.
By the time Tim had graduated and moved back to Madison in fall of 2018, he quietly had become prolific in material and had developed a style and sound for himself. Tim met songwriter and former Chicago musician Neal Jochmann and he performed in the latter's band Combat Naps. In the spring of 2019, Tim formed the new Able Baker lineup with Neal on second guitar and backup vocals, Adam Jordahl once again on bass with the addition of Liam McCarty on drums. Reinvigorated with new members, Able Baker has been playing shows around Madison with plans to record in the summer of 2019.
