Best Jam Band - 2011
Aaron Kamm and the One Drops
Stylistically Aaron Kamm and the One Drops does not conform to the jam-band template pioneered by the Dead and Phish; instead, the band's reggae tendencies and Kamm's expressive melodies put the trio in league with Sublime and the Police. Yet the group has been embraced by the Schwagstock crowd, and there are more similarities than a mutual love for a certain herbal supplement. The band stretches tunes into jazz-informed improvised territories beyond the seven-minute mark, and bassist Andy Dorris and drummer Sean Raila make a fascinating rhythm section — Raila's ghost-notes on live staple "For Today" are particularly impressive. Aaron Kamm and the One Drops can be intellectually stimulating or achieve hippie transcendence, but the group always burns its sacrifices at the altar of the groove. - RFT The Riverfront Times (Voice Media Group)

Bio
Aaron Kamm plays his blues barefoot. Summer or winter, he's got to touch ground while he plays. If you see him on the street he'll likely have a guitar in his hands. He has such fire in his belly for the music that he plays every show as though it were his last.
A rhythmic multi-linguist, Sean Raila is a barely contained bundle of energy, spilling high hat builds and dynamic ornamentaion in bright bursts that make simple reggae rhythms crackle and pop.
Andy Dorris is the rock steady fulcrum balancing his two fellow One Drops. Whether walking that bass, bouncing it on a one drop rhythm, or adding his high, soulful vocals, Andy adds just the right amount of thump.
The One Drops are a full time band with an ever growing following.
