Dillon native John McKoy Jr. is finding something that was once just a dream slowly is unfolding into reality.
In April, he traveled to Atlanta to audition for Gospel Dream 2008, as national competition in the same vein as American Idol with the ultimate prize being a record and music video deal as well as a Royal Caribbean cruise. On April 19, those childhood dreams came roaring back to the forefront.

Being selected, noted McKoy, was “very humbling.” “The Lord has showed me so much favor to the point that words cannot express how thankful I am,” he said. “I feel very blessed to be chosen as a Gospel Dream finalist.” Although McKoy had never entered a performance before, he had performed solo in church services, at funerals and weddings and as part of his brothers’ gospel group 3BD (3 Brothers Delivered). He also helped produce music for 3BD as well as his sister’s gospel group, Endure. - Nick Hilbourn, Morning News

"Douglas Myers Co-Writes and Performs Smile Again"

Skylar Blue, a 22-year-old woman with cerebral palsy who wanted to do something to show her mom how much she cared. Skylar (her stage name) had dabbled in writing music before, but had only produced small things, she said. That was until she sat down with local musician Douglas Myers at his Remier Records studio, and the words to “Smile Again” flowed onto the page.

“They were like magic,” Skylar said of coming up with the words to a song honoring her mother. “When I was in the studio, the words were just there. They were in my head magically. I just felt it; it was from my heart.” (Douglas) Myers came up with the music, and Skylar helped with the words. She wasn’t originally planning to promote the song to the public until she heard Myers sing it.

“His voice is my favorite part of the song,” said Skylar, who will travel with Myers and speak about the song’s meaning when he plays it at local venues this summer. Myers said he doesn’t often collaborate on partnerships such as the one with Skylar, but his heart went out to her when he heard about Judy’s efforts to help sick children. - Posted by Mike Parks on June 26, 2014 in News

These Dillon, South Carolina natives are natural brothers, Douglas Myers, John McKoy Jr. and Ervin McKoy, are members of the group.  They are vocalists, songwriters, producers and they even do musical engineering. 3BD music is flavorful with a blend of a cappella, pop, traditional gospel, and rhythm and blues.  These influences infuse their devotional songs, which stirs the soul and reach all ages. 3BD has become known for their incredible harmony.

3BD is currently working on their debut album titled “CHANGED”. The uplifting and encouraging songs have an inspirational message that creates an immediate connection with their audience and most importantly uplifting God. Their songs, with a variety of tempos, have distinctive melodies and sincere and heartfelt vocal performances. With a fresh and unique twist to the traditional gospel music, their vocal presentation is absolutely top-notch. They will be releasing two new singles titled “Show Me” and “Nothings Gonna Change”.

3BD comes from a family that has deep musical roots and a legacy of anointed gospel singers such as the Spiritual Echoes, Dixie Aires, and Endure of Dillon, SC. The brothers were raised in the church and they remember as children having dreams of singing to millions of people. “Singing came easy for us…we were never taught how to sing, we were born to sing.” 3BD humbly acknowledges that all they have comes from the Almighty God through Jesus Christ. “God called us to minister to the inner man through song so that he may be delivered daily and set free and remain free from strong holds. The Lord blesses those who bless others and we want to bless people with our music.”

Throughout their music career, 3BD has praised and worshipped God before many and have joined various mainstream national recording artists such as Kirk Franklin, Alvin Darling and Celebration, Soul 4 Real, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and Glenn Jones in ministering the word of God through music. Members of 3BD have had some individual success. Douglas Myers collaborated with Marion Meadows where he was the feature vocalist on the single “The First Time” from Meadows’ album Player’s Club. Also, John McKoy was one of the top 3 finalists with Gospel Dream 2008, a national competition in the same vein as American Idol. Their goal is to go mainstream to minister to the multitude.
