With a provocative, in-your-face name like 1Finger4Freedom, one would only expect the band’s sound to be equally as compelling.  The band, known as 1F4F for short, do not disappoint as three brothers unite to form one badass power trio—with one hell of an attitude!

1F4F started in 2010 when frontman/guitarist Justin Sullivan conceived the concept of the band.  “I had decided that it was time to take control of my life,” says Sullivan.  “You’ve got to call your own shots, and don’t let nay-sayers stand in the way of you achieving your dreams.  1Finger4Freedom is my own declaration of independence.”  

He called upon his brothers, bassist Jared Sullivan and drummer Jordan Sullivan, to join him in the cause.  Though the spark for 1Finger4Freedom was just ignited, the brothers Sullivan had been rockin’ and rollin’ together since their musical journey had begun in 2001, in their parents’ garage.

Raised on classic rock the trio is heavily influenced by Zep-style, riff-based rock’n’roll, and being native Texans they have touches of southern blues/rock to their sound.  The group’s influence spans many genres—pop, rap, hip/hop, electronic-dance-music—to give them the distinctive sound they are known for.  “We are always trying to bridge the gap between old and new,” says Berklee alumnus Jared Sullivan.  “We want to stay true to our roots, while remaining open to new sounds and possibilities.”

Crafting their music and developing a loyal following in home-turf Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, 1Finger4Freedom does it BIG!  “Really, we just wanna play music,” Jordan Sullivan says.  “Touring the world wouldn’t be all that bad, though.  Changing the world—I’m down for that!”  With ambitions to chart a new path in rock’n’roll history, the band determines to follow their hearts and their dreams, and to heed the advice of their father: “Know where you’re going, and remember where you’ve been!”
