"Record Release Show"

I like Zombie Fight, I like Hil, and it’s hard not to argue they are getting better and better. But I still feel the song “Brute Squad” doesn’t quite fit the rest of their set. (I mistakenly referred to “Brute Squad” as “Goon Squad” last time I reviewed them on In Effect, and for the record they have no connection to Everybody Gets Hurt.) They seem faster, more moshy, and Hil seems even angrier and most exciting for me. Kids seem to be digging it and singing along. Hell, they are headlining The Acheron. Zombie Fight display a clear musical ability and play a progressive, complex version of New York Hardcore without getting too crazy. They genuinely get me rocking back and forth and make me smile which at this point in my show-going is about as much as you are getting out of me. They have a new LP out, and people should buy it. I sing backups on it. What more do you want from a record?

"LP: Alive and Well Review"

Zombie Fight’s peculiar name may cause potential listeners to wonder whether or not the group at hand is genuine, but after listening to their EP Alive And Well, there’s no question that the New York hardcore outfit means business. On an aural level, the group shows an admiration for all aspects of their scene as they pull quick, systematic punches with blazing guitar-work on tracks such as “Sick Of”, slowly burn through the chaotic atmosphere present with commanding drums on “Who The Hell Are The Joneses”, and fashion a verbal assault with Hil Neloms’ thundering uproars. Along with his compelling presence vocally, Neloms’ lyrics are truly a driving aspect of the EP as they find him assessing both internal and external aspects of a faulted society while still managing to find glimmers of hope through it all, thus turning what seems to be discorded anger into a convergence of hope.

When it comes down to it, Alive and Well is well worth a listen for those looking to hear some raw, passionate hardcore. Pick up the album free of charge over at Zombie Fight’s bandcamp. - Music Michael Mind

Bio

Zombie Fight is a NYHC band stemming from the boroughs of Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Zombie Fight prides itself on incorporating a myriad of interests, stretching from music to life.

Fully formed in November of 2010, through former bands  and former jobs, Lee Weinberg (Ex- Regression), Keith Montgomery, Hilary Neloms (ex-Regression / Nothing Lost), and Justin Woods get together to release the negativity, frustrations and passion that surrounds all of them.  With a wide range of influences rooted in hardcore, punk and metal, however, utilizing the varied tastes of each member, Zombie Fight creates an eclectic mix with one simple goal in mind: if it sounds good, use it.

and Echoes of the Past

“Echoes of the Past”
is a culmination of Zombie Fight’s first three years of existence.  Amongst inner turmoil, societal events that have affected us, loved ones who we’ve found and lost, relationship highs and lows and a burglary in which this finished product was almost completely lost.  We encourage you to give it a listen as this release has been long time coming for us and we are very proud at the result.  Ryan Bland from Ache and Tom Sheehan (of Indecision/Most Precious Blood) contributed to the tracks “Violent Couture” and “The Closest You’ll Ever Get is 1,000 Miles from Nowhere” respectively.  It was a pleasure and an honor to have two people who we have the utmost respect for, come lay down some screams for us and take those songs even further.
