Zach Alex

Zach Alex is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, drummer, and bassist currently based in the Philadelphia area. Known in the area for his unique style, he combines influences from rock n roll, blues, garage rock, psych rock, folk, country and jazz into his songwriting. He is currently performing regularly and playing drums and singing with the groups Lionshead (traditional heavy metal, blues rock, garage rock) and Red Devil White Ghost (experimental, electronic) and plays bass for Philly band, Line Leader (garage rock, surf rock, psych rock). Zach is also a session guitarist and is in the process of recording his first self-titled album set to be self released in 2017.

Zach Alex was born February 15, 1995 outside of Philadelphia, PA. His early interest in music came from curiosity in sound, the casual beating on his grandmother's pots and pans while country music played in the background. At the age of 9, he received an electric guitar from his mother alongside Led Zeppelin I-IV on cassette tape from his father. That same year he was put into private guitar lessons with a bassist in a local bluegrass band, learning many rock n roll and blues guitar songs to shape his sound to come. At the age of 11, he joined a church ensemble as bassist after inspiration from his guitar teacher to pick up bass guitar. Once he entered early teenage years, he left the church ensemble, abandoned private guitar lessons to continue as a self taught guitar student, and picked up a drum set along the way. In high school he started his first rock and americana (after listening to Bob Dylan) bands which had successful local shows and started experimenting with recorded sound and writing songs with bands including Coahoma Soul. After high school, Zach went on to continue his education in music, studying jazz and classical while continuing to hone his craft as a songwriter, studio artist, and rock n roller.   

Zach Alex currently plays and can be seen performing in his local bands Lionshead and Red Devil White Ghost, and Philly-based band Line Leader. In 2017, his first self titled will be set to be released.
