"WhoIsAriel – “ZOOSE” (Album Review)"

New York Hip-Hop is back at the forefront of music again with several big names back at the top of the charts. With the flood gates open, a lot of new artists out of the East Coast are expressed by the masses now and artists like WhoisAriel is taking full advantage of it. Given his 15-minutes, WhoisAriel trend is ready to jump to the mainstream with the release of his new album, ‘Zoose’.

‘Zoose’ is a 10-track debut project from the New York-native, an official feature following a series of building singles. WhoisAriel gathers up the essentials in his lyrical arsenal and creates his most promising well-arounded sound to-date.

‘Zoose’ schools newfound fans on why WhoisAriel is quickly rising up the ladder. On tracks like “On My Mind/I Fell”, “No Ls”, and “Die Dreaming”, we get a glimpse of how hungry the New York act is on breaking out of the East Coast with slick punchlines and realistic metaphors. Great artist paint a abstract picture and it is still understood on so many levels to the naked eye and Ariel’s painting a picture with his words identifiable to peers in every social class.

WhoisAriel’s lyrical prowess on the album is pure and relatable. The emcee is a student of ‘It Was Written’ as he is very intelligent with his wordplay and speaking onf what is going on in the streets for every angle. The project’s crowning moment lyrically is on the track, “Can’t Stop”. No pressure, Ariel speaks on his daughter, fake love, and the struggle of getting out the streets. Ariel is living and depicting the phrase sky’s the limit. The song even carriers a vintage New Jack Swing that really hits the song out the park.

The production on the new effort is surprisingly well-developed. Zoned and mapped around WhoisAriel’s aura. “Zoose” is personal, with Ariel zoning out from time to time throughout the project, the production manages to stay the course and keep Ariel in the pocket.

While from New York but not confined to any region, Ariel’s style and way with words is a catchy universial performance. Focusing on combining a dozen of hit radio-friendly songs, hardly any of today’s new artist create an experience with their projects like WhoIsAriel. It’s understood that WhoisAriel is eager to develop a great repport with fans on this project as he lets them in on a lot of various situations currently going on in his life.

"Q&A With Rising New York Hip Hop Artist WhoIsAriel"

Hey WhoIsAriel , congrats on your dope album “Zoose”, a real banger of a project. So how did you find UGHHBLOG? How long have you been rapping? What area code do you represent?

Thank you. I started producing beats around 2006/2007 and I began rapping around 2010 but not seriously until 2013. So about 7-8 years but I always would write songs even before then. I represent the 516.

ORIGINALITY is extremely important in order to truly stand out. What are you doing differently to make sure your as original as possible? How do you describe your sound?

With this project “Zoose”, because it is all self-produced, I’m introducing a variety of new sounds and vibes to show versatility. Lyrically, I’m rapping sort of in the same manner that I speak so you really get me as an individual when you listen.

Tell us about the creative process for your new album “Zoose”!

It began with “Way Up” which ironically became the intro song to “Zoose”. I was actually working on a different project until I made Way Up and few other tracks and decided to move forward with Zoose instead. The feeling I want you take from Zoose after listening is the feeling of being able to conquer anything and manifest whatever it is you want in life. That was mindset going into this. I was making this project at a time where I felt just that and it was very prominent to me. Originally I wanted to make it 15 tracks so I probably wrote and recorded around double that amount of songs until I decided to make it 10 tracks and then I did the final cuts. I listened to the songs over and over again as they were created and basically a year since Way Up was recorded the rest of the project was complete.

In 2018, what are a few things you are planning on doing differently to continue to grow your fanbase?

I plan on building a lot more of my own events as well reach out to more media outlets and other creatives to really collaborate and breathe life into new ideas that haven’t been experienced before.

Any new projects and videos you are working on? Planning on a tour anytime soon?

I have a lot of things in the vault and project ideas running through my mind currently but right now I’m focused on getting the right exposure for what I have out already. Definitely have new visuals coming. Hopefully by the end of 2018 I can get a tour going.

Seems like the underground/independent movement is growing extremely fast, so many artists making huge moves not having to deal with major labels. A&R’s now are signing indie artists based on how many followers they have rather than quality music? Do your chase social media numbers or are you waiting to one day get signed?? Give us your thoughts…

I’m not waiting to get signed. If there is a really good deal on the table I may be inclined to take it but since I know so much can be accomplished without needing a major label that’s how I move. I want to have to have my freedom

Out the box type question, If it came down to 1 ALBUM only, what underground Hip Hop album would you consider THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!???……One 1 album you can choose.

This is an impossible question to answer for me but a top favorite would be Illmatic.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop is Hip Hop that you have to look for or be put on to find. The music isn’t on the radio and the content isn’t mainstream. Underground Hip Hop is the place people go to hear something they haven’t heard before.

"[NEW MUSIC] WhoIsAriel- Like No Other"

New York MC WhoIsAriel is dropping some new heat off his upcoming album Zoose. The song is called Like No Other and it is a spaced out trap anthem. Like No Other is self-produced and strays away from Ariel’s typical sound. The sound while airy, goes hard as Ariel spits about his ambitions and prevailing against all odds. From lyrics to the production this is a strong showing from the New York artist.

Zoose will be Ariels second full length, self-produced mixape following 2015’s The Golden Tape. In this time Ariel has grown as an artist by honing his craft on various tracks and video freestyles. Ariel says “it’s about that time people see how much more [he has] to offer as an artist. Zoose will show them that”

Bio

WhoIsAriel was born in Queens and raised in Elmont NY.  His first introduction to creating music was the summer of 2008 when he first got his hands on FL Studio, a music production software on an old desktop in his basement.  At the age of 13 he quickly became attached to music and spent nearly every day messing around with making beats.  Over the years, he taught himself how to play piano and later learned his way around guitar, bass, and even a little bit of drums.  For a while, just being able to create instrumentals was enough for him but somewhere along the line it all changed.  Around the age of 16 he began writing poetry and within the next year he was making beats, rapping, and writing songs.  After purchasing his own recording equipment, he learned the ins and outs of engineering as well as graphic design and photography over time.  Having full control of his brand and being able to build it all from the bottom up was his goal.  Taking music seriously since the age of 18, he is now 22 with 2 official full length projects: The Golden Tape and Zoose.  Zoose, being his latest project, shows his tremendous growth and versatility as an artist/producer by bringing Hip Hop to a new and modern space while preserving the essentials of the genre.  Ariel sets himself apart through lyrical prowess and his gift for production. On top of all that, Ariel and his team are also producing events around the city and steadily growing their following.
