While I’m Away was founded by guitar player Wes Vala and bass player James Goslee in 2017. All they needed was a drummer. After jamming with a couple potential drummers, they met Collin Shmidt who would be perfect for the sound they wanted. Collin could play the fast punk beats, but also brought something new. A softer side of the music. After playing in Collin’s basement a couple times. They began to write what would become their debut album “something to live for”.
