"Zombicon Took Over Ft Myers With A Rocking Vengance"

Next, it was another stroll back down First St., to the main stage hosted by Brent's Music & Sound and just in time to take in the Undead Idols, Munster-themed set and also to catch up with the Vegas Death Rays set up in the Patio de Leon, outside of The Morgan House. You all must check out the Death Rays, as I am told their original drummer has returned and I have to say that they sounded better than ever at this event! Keep an ear out for dates and stop by their Facebook page for the latest dates! - Examiner.com

"Exposed Vocals Interviews Unsigned Rock Band - Vegas Death Rays"

How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Searching the internet. Checked Exposed Vocals website out and thought it was a great platform for indie artists to expose their music.

So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

I grew up in Dayton, Ohio. Dayton was kind of a Midwest hub for original music. There, were great bands like Guided By Voices, The Breeders, Toxic Reasons and many others. It's kind of what everyone did. Get your friends, start a band and then play shows. I was very lucky to grow up in such a great music atmosphere.

How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Vegas Death Rays name came from the hotel "Vdara" in LasVegas. It's a state of the art building. The only problem... the materials it's made of are very reflective, combined with a concaved shape. It causes the suns rays to reflect to the pool area and burn the swimmers and sun bathers below. I read about it. The reporters kept calling it a "death ray". I thought Vegas Death Rays would be a great name for a rock band. And besides... I find it very funny.

What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

I love on line music sharing. It's a great way to get youre music out to people all over the world that would never hear your music before. Vegas Death Rays give our music away free on many sources starting with our website www.vegasdeathrays.net/home.cfm

Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Just make music that you really believe in and care about. It all starts with good songs. Without that, you have nothing. Once you have that, play any shows you can get your hands on. Make friends, go to shows, and find venues that support your music. Find bands that are playing them and hit them up. Make use of internet resources. Spend an hour or so a night to promote your band and music.

Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Of course we make mistakes. Everyone one does. Nobody can perform a live show absolutley perfect. Usually nobody but the band notices it. We just laugh it off and carry on. At the next rehersal we go over it and talk about it. We practice it..over and over again.

Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

We play all over Florida. Currently we are putting together a festival tour for the Spring, through the southern states.

Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

I get inspiration from many sources...movies, arts and novels. I come up with the bass lines, words and vocals. I go over it a few hundred times, before I present it to the rest of the band for review. We then add their parts of guitar and drums to it. The band then listens to it, and makes any necessary changes. We will go over a new song a few hundred times before we perform it or decide to record.

Do you have a band website? Yes we do www.vegasdeathrays.net/home.cfm
Do you have a Facebook or Twitter?

Yes, we have both.
Facebook: www.facebook.com/VDRFLA
Twitter: twitter.com/VegasDeathRays

Do you use Bandcamp, Spotify, ExposedVocals or SoundCloud to share your music?

We have a Bandcamp but don't use it very often anymore. We use Reverbnation, Soundcloud and Exposed Vocals, along with our Vegas Death Rays website page.We also have many internet radio stations that have a webpage for us to share our music and band information. Internet radio radio is amazing. It is becoming more popular than local area radio stations.

What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

We just had an interview with AMI Radio. Our guitarist Eduardo was singing "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John for them.

If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

I would spend half the year recording a album and going over each song. Fine tuning each and every note. Then the rest of the year touring, promoting, and making friends along the way.

Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

We are really happy with our studio. We are good friend Chuck Cantasano. He owns Storm Room Studio. We also have our on protools we work with as well.

How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
As far as promoting, we us the internet. My girl Tammy has become an internet promotion machine. We, spend at least an hour every day on the computer to do Vegas Death Rays promoting.

If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

That is a really hard question! I would - Exposed Vocals
