“Coast Rock” Band Vanilla Coast Spreading Positive Vibes Through First Video from EP Tides

(Los Angeles, CA) February 15, 2016 – Rock/jam duo Vanilla Coast will be releasing the video for the single “Vespertide,” a song off its debut EP, Tides. Filmed in L.A., the video captures the band’s chilled-out, upbeat sound and its mission to spread positivity, truth and love through music.
Vanilla Coast is Dylan Brown (vocals, guitar) and Wes Sullivan (bass, vocals), who bring their talent as songwriters to the mix, dreaming up a flow and a new sound they call “coast rock.” Each song features personal lyrics and a bright blend of smooth vocals, infectious guitar hooks, deep bass grooves and rolling layers of rhythms that demonstrates Dylan and Wes’ creative chemistry, ability to live in the joy of the moment and cohesiveness as an ensemble. The pair connects to audiences through spirited live performances and recordings that capture the essence of a live jam session.

Vanilla Coast’s on-going evolution as a band is marked by their drive to draw inspiration from new artists in a multitude of genres, from funk and jazz to rock and heavy metal. It is also marked by the individual journeys of its members. Due to paralysis in one arm caused by Erb’s Palsy, Wes has pioneered a one-armed bass-playing technique called “slap tap” that involves tapping the frets instead of plucking the strings and adds a percussive and rich tone to the music. Dylan’s skill at coming up with intricate, inventive guitar riffs and his talent for writing clever lyrics with a meaningful message helps gives Vanilla Coast’s music its uplifting and introspective energy. The group’s ability to freshen up the indie rock genre has earned praise and fans in both the New York City area and in Los Angeles, where members have now relocated. Vanilla Coast has played at favorite east coast rock venues like Webster Hall, The Wick and The Revolution and has been recognized for songwriting through band competitions including The Break Contest at the Skate and Surf Festival in Amityville, NY and the Webster Hall Battle of the Bands.
