Tote

Hailing from California's Bay Area, undiscovered rapper Tote released his debut mixtape "Thresholds" March 2015 at the age of 22. Tote has performed in the Bay Area over a year before his debut. He has also received recognition from Large Hip-Hop communities such as TeamBackPack, which he became a finalist for in their 2012 and 2015 Mission Underground Cypher series, and an Honorable mention from Hip-Hop Society during their #IAMHIPHOP contest.

"Come one, come all- listen to the story that I wrote for y'all, and wrote for me especially to release and solve the conflicts that reside within all these walls", croons fresh young rapper, Tote in his track "What We Share". It's a mission statement. Through storytelling, he illustrates and discusses the thoughts and feelings within the social microcosm of living together.

Rather than overwhelming the audience with multiple layers of blaring, attention-grabbing effects, Tote mellows you out with a simple rhythm and flow. Influences come from jazz, where Tote infuses brass horns and rhythm guitar with the processed beats common with modern hip hop. The effect is an effective soundtrack to a late night cruise through the neighborhood or a night in with a beer.
