"In Step With The Stargazer Lilies"

Otherworldly, elemental, primal. In a word, epic. When it comes to the sound generated by The Stargazer Lilies, it’s rather difficult for us to avoid hyperbole. John Ceparano and Kim Field left the impressively eerie disco shoegaze of Soundpool behind, and concentrated on this epic soundscape that spares filigree and sucks you into a exploding star of melody and bliss. And as good as Soundpool was (quite), this is an intensity upgrade, an almost spiritual experience.

We’ve shared the trailer with you for the forthcoming LP, “We Are the Dreamers”, released September 10th on Graveface Records. We sat down with John and Kim and bugged them about… well, everything under the sun. - DKFM

"SXSW 2013: Saturday (Part 2) The Stargazer Lilies @ The Velveeta Room"

The Stargazer Lilies for whatever wonderful reason have decided to fulfill their name, projecting serine video clips of flower filled fields and decorating the stage with their namesake flower. All this was done to enhance the moodiness and atmosphere of their music, which they might have pulled off even better than Experimental Aircraft. Each song built before cascading into pure, swirling, shoegaze bliss. As intact as that atmosphere started out with, the band shattered it as they become progressively noisier and noisier, so much that by the end of it the guitarist was smashing himself into his amp with his guitar to produce the right level of noise. Needless to say, Stargazer Lilies was absolutely wonderful hearing damaging goodness.

"Black Moth Super Rainbow at Music Hall of Williamsburg"

Surprise of the night: The Stargazer Lilies, also Pennsylvania-based, opening with a lucid and muscular take on shoegazing pop while a projector pumped out a stop-motion nature walk. I only had about three seconds to snort at the hammy visual before their set kicked my ass—John Cep’s alien guitar-barricades, built with distorted sludge over slow and Spartan backbeats, often sounded like two or three loud-as-hell amps raging in dreamy unison, while the frugally-chosen sung notes of bassist Kim Field set up hooks that barely peeked through the mix. A beautiful sounding live balance and judicious songwriting kept me fully invested in a set during which the musicians scarcely moved an inch—a theme that’d resurface as the night progressed. - Aquarian Weekly

Bio

The Stargazer Lilies honed their psyched out, ambient wall of bliss in the rolling hills of north/eastern PA. Their debut album "We Are The Dreamers" was released late in 2013 on Graveface Records and gained much critical acclaim, especially in shoegaze & dream pop circles, where many considered the album, among the best out there. All throughout 2014 the band toured heavily. First sharing the stage with label mates The Casket Girls. Then hitting the road again, this time supporting analog synth/psych icon, Tobacco of Black Moth Super Rainbow fame. From Doug Fir in Portland to Lincoln Hall in Chicago, the Echo in L.A., the Mohawk in Austin and Brooklyn Bowl in NYC, the band has played to sold out audiences and blew minds in virtually every major city across the U.S. Live, the band's hypnotic visuals and tsumani of sound, wash over the crowd like a trippy tidal wave, mesmerizing the audience and putting them in a deep state of heavy bliss. Their sophomore album "Door To The Sun" is slated for release in fall of 2015 on Graveface Records.
