"The Seduction - You Catch Fire Album Review"

Bands like The Seduction are a godsend because they show just how easy it is to rock out. With their new album “You Catch Fire,” the band plugs in and kicks out eleven jams in under an hour, never overstaying their welcome. These tracks grab you by the hair, are all up in your face, and leave no room to breathe. They are in go-mode from front to back, so if it’s high-paced hard rock that you’re looking for, then you’ve stumbled into the right place.

Album opener relies solely on its 4/4 stomp, both in and out of the chorus, to get even the short-hairs amongst us head banging. The dudely chants and hardcore screams in “Wolf in the Night” demand attention, relentlessly pushing the song forward like a V8 engine does to a muscle car, elements of Queens of Stone Age are littered with the thickness of other fan favorites like Clutch or Turbonegro, so be prepared for that upbeat beer party. Songs like “Flavor of the Week” and “Hell on Wheels” pass by with simple and extremely catchy riffs, rarely challenging the listener, but with sing-a-longs like these, who needs a challenge?

The Seduction has made a nasty ride with the cool kids on their album “You Catch Fire.” There’s nothing sweet here, just business. None of that experimental, genre-bending, endless guitar solo bullshit, just in your face hard rock n’ roll made to help you let loose. So if you’re on your way out to alter your neighbourhood’s serenity and your own state of mind bring The Seduction out with you and revel in the results. - The Sludgelord

"The Best Band in North Carolina is The Seduction"

Back in August we asked you to help us find the best unsigned bands in America. After listening to hundreds of submissions and calling each other lots of names, we finally narrowed down our pick for the most Petey Pablo-est state. The best band in North Carolina is The Seduction.

Today our travels across this great nation bring us to North Carolina. Let’s enjoy the native experiences. Have a fresh cigarette from the vast tobacco fields. Partake in sauced and barbecued meats. Get far too excited about college basketball. Take your shirt off. Twist it ’round your head like a helicopter.

While we partake in these exotic and distinctly North Carolinian delights, let me ask you a few questions: do you like riffs? How about hard rock and/or roll? Could you smack down on some blues-y licks right about now? Do you want a cheap domestic beer? Then brother, I think we’re in paradise because Wilkesboro, NC’s rockers The Seduction have all that shit in spades.

I’ve heard rumor that some of you flushers love Clutch. I’ve heard talk through the grapevine that some among you get your kicks with The Sword. Why, I’ve heard incendiary whispers that there are perhaps a smattering of readers that enjoy Motörhead. How lewd. On the band’s debut LP You Catch Fire, The Seduction hit all of those sweet spots. Expect most tracks to punch you right in the hard rock/stoner Venn diagram erogenous zone, but there’s a bit of variety here; “The Flood” is a bar-room slow burner that builds and rises to a triumphant climax. The whole album is worth a listen and oh, hey what’s that? Apparently you can listen to it right below this sentence.

But don’t just take my word for it. Hear it from some of our esteemed judges:

Randall Thor: The seduction play fast paced southern fried stoner rock/metal, but overall, they fucking rock. Their debut, You Catch Fire, is an endless fest of ball kicking riffs, and will keep you head banging for weeks to come. Seriously, if you can make it through this entire album without smiling, shouting HELL YEAH, pounding a 24 Oz PBR, and /or wrecking your neck, check your pulse. As if their music wasn’t good enough, they bring the music to life live in the form of explosive energy, mountain man accents, tons of PBR, headbanging, and are the most party band I have ever had the pleasure to see. If you ever, ever see this band is coming to your town, do not miss at any cost.

Dubya: Oh ho, what’s this tingling in my nether regions? It’s as if my grundle is being tickled by a dozen gentle midgets while a pair of very strong, masculine hands rub all those knots out of my shoulders. Oh, this is the feeling of listening to the Seduction. My senses have caught fire, and I can’t even see across the room through all these butterflies and Lisa Frank-esque hearts floating through the air. Consider me smitten.

Dagon: There are so many interchangeable stoner bands out there right now that whenever I listen to one of them – even though it’s one of my favorite sounds – 90% of their songs will bore me to death. This band is an exception. The Seduction plays no frills stoner metal with all the right influences. There’s big riffs, blazing guitarwork, a rhythm section that gets your head bobbing and your feet stomping and, most importantly, great songs, made even more memorable by the excellent vocals. There’s even some punkish moments thrown in for good measure. Bless their souls. - Toilet ov Hell

"Quarterly Review: King Hitter, Desert Storm, Sendelica, Drifter, Sula Bassana, Strange Here, Once-Ler, Waingro, Motorgoat, The Seduction"

The tell? The tell is the scream just before North Carolina foursome The Seduction move into the bouncing bridge on “Volga,” which launches their Mechanical Pig Records debut, You Catch Fire. From there, it’s pretty easy to hear the metallic vibe beneath their stoner-punk aesthetic. It comes up again in the breakdown for the later “Hell on Two Wheels,” but it’s there anyway, adding an aggressive edge to the record, which at 53 minutes has plenty of room for the breadth of the rocking highlight centerpiece “Flavor of the Weak” or the depth-charge of the penultimate “Starmageddon” – a few more screams there amid spit-out hardcore shouts – but it’s the meld of these with the party-pit vibe of “Daughter of a Holy Man” and “Irish Flu” that makes You Catch Fire effective in taking cues from some of the West Coast’s heavy methods – some Red Fang, some Queens of the Stone Age — and presenting them with a definitively East Coast punch. - The Obelisk

"Charlotte Locals Take Over Amos' Southend"

The Seduction started the night off right with a set full of rock ‘n’ roll spirit. This band takes everything rock is supposed to be and pushes it to a new level. The guys were a late addition to the show as another band had to drop out, but they were the perfect band for the job.The four piece hit the stage armed with loud guitars producing catchy riffs, ferocious drumming that kept the beat going, and chest pounding bass to get your heart racing. This was my first time seeing this band play live, although I have heard recordings before. By the end of their set I was ready to smack myself for not going to a show sooner. This is a group that has a very bright future, if they keep producing live sets like this one. - Shutter 16

Bio

The Seduction is an aggressive quartet comprised of musicians with various influences and backgrounds, forged by countless hours of stereos blaring on Blue Ridge back roads. Relentlessly driven to capture what we feel is the music that pounds in our heads and pulses through our veins. We don’t discriminate. We don’t fit. We’re four dudes writing rock and roll that knows no label. No compromise. No filler. Just gear, beer, and the determination to remain true to what we believe in.
