Bio

Hailing from Patchogue, New York, The Eastern Condition is a four-piece experimental metal band with heavy elements of hardcore and tech/math. The band was formed in 2010, comprised of guitarist Tommy Dolan, bassist Ryan Bartholomew, drummer Mike East and former guitarist Sean Martinez (2010-2013). The Eastern Condition existed primarily as an instrumental unit, and was treated as a live project for years, with various vocalists occasionally drifting in and out of the fray, a few studio sessions from which material was never released, and several hiatuses/break-ups. In 2016, second guitarist John Iavarone was added to the mix to raise the current incarnation of TEC, Mike tripled his role in the band by taking on electronics and vocals behind the kit, and the band began fine-tuning and finalizing music for a release. In 2017, TEC returned to the stage while simultaneously pre-producing their debut album, Seven Years Bad Luck, a record intended to showcase the band's past, as well as hint at a promising future. In July of 2018, the Eastern Condition finally entered the studios that would give a permanent voice to their history of hard work and sacrifice.

Seven Years Bad Luck was recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey with Kevin Antreassian of the Dillinger Escape Plan, and Westfall Studios in Farmingdale, NY with engineer Anthony Lopardo and mixing/mastering genius Raymond Marte of Moon Tooth. The album combines elements of first- and second-wave metalcore, intense spazz and puzzling math sections, thunderous breakdowns, vibrant, soul-warming instrumental groove sections and ballad-style breaks from the madness, and even some black metal droning. Upon the record's release in December of 2018, The Eastern Condition immediately went hard to work compiling new music to bring a fresh aspect to their live show, and have received positive reviews and accolades from all corners. Their goals for 2019 are to finally leave their area and bring their style of chaos to whoever will have it.
