Bio

The Original Summer is an alternative/punk band that formed in April of 2010 with its current lineup solidifying in June of 2013. The band formed in the small town of Grafton, Wisconsin at John Long Middle School as an idea between original members Tim Brzakala, Eddie Ahrenhoerster, guitarist Joe Roxbury and bassist Erik Volkmann. Their first and only show with the original lineup was at their middle school talent show, and they were billed as Shattered Horizon. After the departure of Joe and Erik, Max Hennum was drafted as their new guitarist, and later Tim would pick up bass. It was also then that they found out the name Shattered Horizon was the name of an old first person shooter computer game, so they changed the name to The Original Summer. They played together as this lineup for almost a year, with the exception of having Joe Leopold on bass from April to May of 2011, before Eddie wanted to play guitar with Max. In October 2011, they drafted drummer Hunter Patnode after they met with him at a rehearsal.

They started out playing cover songs and wrote two original songs, Wanting and The Stalker Song. When Hunter joined the band, that was when the creativity started to flow even more, and they wrote their first album, Ones Mind within three or four rehearsals. The way they write songs is normally a group effort, with the exception of songs like Only Son and Psychic Sidekick which were written by Eddie himself. Ones Mind was recorded over a year and was finally released in February of 2013.

In October 2012, Hunter no longer became involved with the band and parted ways with them. Fortunately, the band hired drummer Brady Palubiski to take his place. Unfortunately, Brady left for college in the summer of 2013, but the bands line-up solidified when newcomer Stephen Lear joined the band as their current drummer. With Stephen, they have finished writing and will record their second album, Make a Wish. They have played a few open mic nights and a few shows in backyards. They are willing and wanting to play bigger and better venues all over the country, and are ready to rock!
