The Mixed Royalty

We're The Mixed Royalty! We're sisters from South Florida. Myriah is 21 years old and Shanice is 17 years old. We are mixed race, English and Jamaican, and we believe that royalty comes in all different shapes, sizes, races, and genders. We're all royalty! We love music! So, about 6 years ago, we decided to form a duo. What at first was a fun hobby turned into something we now pursue music as a career. Formerly known as Ladies-In-Training, we have decided to continue our career as The Mixed Royalty. As we grew older, our music started to grow with us. We've been working on new music that portrays this change and have a name that represents this change and acceptance of ourselves. Through our music, we explore different genres such as Pop, Dance, and R&B. The reason we explore different genres is because we believe creativity should never be confined. Music should never be confined. We grew up listening to and admiring so many different genres that we have incorporated different genres in to our music or even just singular songs. We’ve had the privilege of making music that reflects ourselves but also the privilege of living our lives with the reflection of music. Music touches so many people. It has allowed us to experience amazing things that we would have never gotten the opportunity to experience. So that is why we can say we are a reflection of music. Music is never one thing, it is mixed. We hope all of our listeners never feel confined to the box they’ve been given by society. We hope they reflect the music that touches their soul so deeply. We hope that through music we all share a crown, we are all royal, we are accepting of ourselves and of others, and, most importantly, that we all never dim our voices or shy away from what makes us who we are or what is important to us. We are unapologetically The Mixed Royalty.
