Bio
The Electric Soul Society, as it exists at present,
is originally a tale of two bands........
(although there is a tiny earlier seed...more of that at the end).
The first of those bands was...
....Electric Soul Society....confused?
Electric Soul Society was formed by
Steven Pearson (Bass/Vocals), along with Steve Martin (Drums)
in 2008.
They planned a Soul/R'n'B-style band
and recruited Steve Pitzer (guitar)
The band began rehearsing and eventually playing shows.
They were, however, still looking to add another male vocalist
and a keyboard player. Failing to find suitable candidates,
enthusiasm began to wane.
Towards the end of the first Electric Soul Society’s existence,
a band was formed by Tommy Stone (Vocals) and Ted Cronk (Guitar)
together with Scott Watts (Drums) and Sally Rhodes (Bass),
calling itself Toxic Toyz. Steve Pitzer began playing 2nd guitar,
pulling double duty with ESS. Soon, Steve Martin was persuaded to do the same.
Eventually, with the final demise of ESS, Steven Pearson assumed the bass duties.
Toxic Toyz continued with this line-up for several years
and became a powerful and balanced unit,
capable of high levels of band dynamics and musical interplay.
Tommy Stone’s decampment from Bellingham to Monroe
saw a decline in shows and rehearsal,
finally culminating in the band’s end, with his leaving.
The core musicians decided the group
had developed too far to abandon
and began looking for a new singer.
After a year and a half of searching, auditioning and disappointment,
it was decided that Steven and Ted would split lead vocal duties
(and if a suitable candidate found us at some point, so be it,
but we weren’t waiting around anymore).
Oh, and of course the band needed a name.
…..eventually Steve Martin suggested using The Electric Soul Society.
It was the only one everyone
agreed on.
P.S ……that first seed, Steve Martin and I had played together for a few years
and had developed a strong bond as a rhythm section.
He had been communicating with a talented guitarist friend he had played with in Florida,
who had decided to move to Bellingham.
That friend had a talented guitarist friend he was bringing with him
and Steve M. suggested the four of us could make a pretty damn good band together.
So we got together when they arrived and it lasted one session
……the friend was Ted Cronk and his friend was Steve Pitzer.
That session is probably getting close to a decade ago.
The principle has proved to be sound,
we just weren’t aware of the timing involved.
Now, the three Steve's had also been working together
in an R'n'B project with several talented people,
one of the most talented, being a vocalist, by the name of Carrie Bieber.
Upon the collapse of that project, she was ask to sing a
couple of songs with ESS. Those songs went very well.
She agreed to join the band and suggested her friend, Doug Hunt,
as a man who could potentially fulfill that co-front person concept.
Which, he indeed could.
Which brings us to now......Carrie and Doug have completed,
what ESS appears to have been moving toward for its entire existence,
in all it's forms....... A group of like minds,
moving in the same direction in a fully integrated way, with,
the ability to tackle whatever songs they choose.
So......
…..If you like the idea of.....
outstanding lead vocals, great instrumental playing and all new
5-part vocal harmonies, covering great classic rock and roll,
from the sixties to the present...........
then you might consider coming to check us out.
We're pretty happy
and we hope we can make you feel that way too.......Steven Pearson (06/15/15)
