Meet Shane Ericka Lee aka Shane Ericks.

This 19-year-old Filipino-American singer and songwriter had the netizens abuzz. Her video singing Carpenters’ “Love Me for What I Am” already reached over 4.5 million views on Facebook.

Anyone would actually think that the late Karen Carpenter has resurrected from her grave when you hear Shane Ericks sing.

Shane Ericks joins us to talk about her winning the Global Pinoy Idol competition and to perform the song she won with Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You.”

Shane Ericks, a student at Greenville Technical College, has advanced through local and regional competition to be invited to participate in the final round of the Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition.

Ericks, from Taylors, will travel to Manila, Philippines for the Jan. 17-22, 2016 world competition.

Performing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, Ericks was one of two winners from the national competition held in Elgin, Ill., earlier this month.

The winner of the final round of competition will receive $2,000 and a recording contract.

Ericks is a Wade Hampton High School graduate who plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in commercial music.

The Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition is sponsored by CFC-ANCOP (Couples for Christ Answering the Call of the Poor), an organization that raises funds for the education of financially disadvantaged youth in the Philippines.

The Carpenters lead singer, Karen Carpenter, turn out to be ‘alive’ and knocks again, not in charts, but in youtube videos.

Last July 29 singing Karen Carpenter’s “Love Me For What I Am”, the Filipina-American singer-songwriter, Shane Ericks, flawlessly sang the song and became an instant hit.

The 18-year-old Filipina beauty from Malolos, Bulacan, in Northern Philippines, now living in Greenville, South Carolina for more than 7 years has been recently crowned as the Grand Champion Global Pinoy Idol, performing Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You.”

The competition included the best Philippine singers from around the world who had already competed and won both regional and national competitions.

Shane hailed as a woman of faith and also a worship leader in her church and has just released her single entitled; “Your Love Is Enough” which is downloadable on iTunes.

Aside from having a gifted singing ability, Shane also superbly plays the piano and guitar.

Some people apparently didn’t believe that she was singing it live, so she posted some more videos to prove that it was her own voice including two of Carpenters famous songs, “I Need To Be In Love” and “You”.

Ericks is a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and now a student at Greenville Technical College and plans to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music. - Newshable
