Bio

Sara Galassini and Yukio Tsuji meet in Italy in 2000 performing for a theater production by La MaMa ETC. Sara soon moves to NYC.
Yukio is a composer musician for dance, theater and movies. Sara is an actor, poet and dancer.
In 2004 they perform "Waves of all Times" at the Club of La MaMa ETC. This first concert is a selection of originals and other favorites by Ricky Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, Cat Stevens and Mina.
Their next production is "Origin: a Performance Art Concert" conceived by Sara and composed by Yukio, featuring Sara Galassini on lead vocals, Yukio Tsuji on guitar, flutes and percussion, Chriz Mickens on drums, Lars Preese on synthesizer and backup vocals. In the show dancer Juan Carlos Betancourt from Guatemala plays the Shaman and Lorenzo Masnah creates a live painting installation through the performance.
Sara and Yukio keep merging their diverse talents, constantly working in theater productions and making theater a strong influence in their music.
They tour in Italy where they are presented in venues in Perugia, Florence and Siena.
At the Spoleto54 Festival they perform for La Mama Tribute and they play at the Spoleto Fringe Festival accompanied by violinist Marko Zoranovik and djembe player Mamadou Ba.
In 2012 they come back to NYC as the Sara Galas Band featuring Sara Galassini, Yukio Tsuji and 2 new members: violin player Sergio R. Reyes and bass player Yuka Tadano.

Being at one of their concerts is like being hypnotized and transported into different realities.
Yukio Tsuji's guitar, Sergio R. Reyes violin, Yuka Tadano's bass and Sara Galassini lyrics, voice and movement captivate the audience into a musical and theatrical adventure of multiple dimentions, a real mystical journey weaved with the essence of world, jazz / rock, folk, canzone and tango styles.
Their alchemy is immediately evident and so is their very original sound, so present through their performance, it brings new life with each composition and each story told with their songs.
