About the Band
The charismatic Americana folk/rock duo, Rough and Lovely, write songs with the kind of rawness reserved for artists who have lived to tell. When they sing, "You drove in like you were plowing a road, and I was snow falling off your coat" audiences know they're hearing something special.
Theres an authenticity about the music; its the stories and straightforward guitar, harmonica and percussion, blending with Rough and Lovelys dynamic harmony vocals. The down-to-earth, no-nonsense, what-you-see is-what-you-get performance spark the audience to connect on another level; their live show fan videos say it all.
The Journey
Jill and Ed met at a music club in Boston, when Ed was playing with Marty Balin from Jefferson Airplane. After reconnecting in LA, they formed Rough and Lovely and havent looked back. "Both our paths are driven by music." says Jill. "Something happens when we play together; it feels natural."
At 19, Ed Michaels hit the road touring with artists such as Roy Rogers, Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane, Commander Cody, Alvin Youngblook Hart; sharing international stages with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, Ben Harper, B.B. King, Robert Plant, George Thorogood, Allman Brothers, Ted Nugent, Bonnie Raitt, among others. His gritty, heartfelt recording of his original, Keep the Wolf from my Door, was a Pick to Click #1 Hit on BB Kings Sirius XM Bluesville radioshow.

A multitalented, singer songwriter, and NPR radioshow host of "Tellingtales."Jill writes about the everyday world everyone knows.
Her songs are observations to life, with lyrics that cut into the meaning of it... no surprise other bands cover her tunes.
Jill moved to New York City and while living in the east village, immersed herself in the art and music scene; performing her unique story-songs at downtown clubs. Her one woman quitar slinging musical show, "Nice Girl" debuted in NYC last summer to glowing reviews.
