Bio

Robert McNabb and The Flying Doves began as the result of great personal loss. Tracey and I married at 18 and had 41 years together. She was a my soulmate through 42 years of the trials of life. Though I have played since a young age, started out leaving home at a young age with a Buck Owens Special guitar and heading to Canada, I had always kept my song writing and poetry private.  After the loss

I found poetry and song writing my best way to deal with my personal grief and I believe many who have suffered loss can find a voice in what I write and sing. So I went public.

But life is not all loss, it is to be lived and loved and now my music has turned more to living and loving.

Further still my music addresses issues in the world today. I believe music and art can be a light in this world.

I and The Flying Doves members have changed over these almost four years. We have lost one member who has passed over, we lost members through moving down to Florida and we've lost a member to change. Life goes on.

Now we are a trio with Laura Belle our new vocalist. Laura started at a young age with chorus and throughout her school years she was very active.  Laura then studied  under Anita Moody a well known vocalist instructor in Albany, Georgia with emphasis on soul.  Laura's range and abilities are amazing.

William “Rockfish” Hairston, has now joined us playing lead and rhythm guitar. He began performing with the Rockfish Band in 1996, a group of musician friends living throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Since then, he has accompanied many bands and advanced his music theory. On his own, preferring the roots and funky side of life he revitalizes a vibe missing in most of today’s rushed and cold sounds. His “missing” or hung notes are not to be missed and he has added greatly to our sound. Get on your good foot, turn on your lovelight, and get out to hear him play!

Our sound is Americana/Folk/Westernand Rock. I think all fits under the genre of Americana.

We hope to share our music for it is about real life.
