"Ricky Gunter"

Headlining the Winter Hillbilly Jam is up-and-coming country music star Ricky Gunter with WNC roots. Gunter is been climbing his way up Nashville circles, but originally hails from Madison County.

Gunter is a pretty big name to bring in to the Valley Tavern, with overflow crowds expected in the parking lot. Gunter has been a regular at the Hillbilly Jam thanks to Ramey.

“He calls me momma,” Ramey said. “I said ‘That makes me feel old,’ so he said ‘Should I call you sister?’ I told him to stick with momma.” - The Mountaineer

"Gunter Wins 2 Josie Awards"

Marshall native and country music performer Ricky Gunter walked away from the Country Tonite Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Sept. 17, with two big awards.

Each year, the Josie Music Association hosts an awards competition for independent artists. Last year, 38,000 submissions from a variety of categories resulted in almost 1,000 nominations across a broad range of musical styles and genres. Gunter won Vocalist of the Year in the country/male category, and also won the all ages vocal competition.

Gunter will next appear at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds on Thursday, Oct. 7, alongside Tricia Ann, Ryan Perry Band, Kayla McKinney, Shooting Creek, J Creek Cloggers, Gene Pool and Shane Aikens.

The event, a benefit for victims of the recent floods that impacted Haywood County, begins at noon and is a partnership between the Ricky Gunter Band and Hillbilly Jam. - smoky mountain news

“We come together like no other place. When there’s a need, Haywood County pulls together," said David Angel, Elevated Mountain Distilling Company owner. "It’s just a close-knit rural community, and we stand strong together."
The concert featured artists Ricky Gunter, Kaitlyn Baker and Joe Lasher.

“Music is the world’s medicine, man," Lasher said. "There’s a song for everything out there in the world, and writing songs I try to harness that -- and all the emotions that go into it." - wlos news 13

"Hillbilly Jam organizers to host benefit concert for Haywood County flood victims"

For country musician Ricky Gunter, aiding flood victims is a personal matter. One of his close friends is dealing with the total loss of his home's basement — floodwaters brought fish, sewage and debris into it. But Gunter says this friend has been out in the community prioritizing helping others over tending to his own home. Gunter is happy to help, too. This will be his second benefit concert for flood victims in the wake of Fred.

"This is an opportunity for me to be a part of a community where people want to stand up and fight for each other," Gunter said. "This is bigger than music, and bigger than a success story. - The Mountaineer
