Bio
Pensacola native, Rick Norris, is a lifelong singer/songwriter who has been performing since the age of five. His musical training started early when he began singing with his family who traveled the country performing and recording gospel music in nothing less than a modified Greyhound bus. Rick built upon this early musical foundation by writing songs as a child and teenager. He joined his first band, the Quickening, at age eighteen and performed at local venues such as the historic Seville Quarter in Pensacola. Rick recorded his first solo gospel album, “Like You,” in 2001 after living in Nashville. He was then chosen as lead singer and guitarist for the popular Pensacola bluegrass band, The Whitesands Panhandle Band. Though the band had been well-established for almost twenty-five years, Rick’s songwriting talent was highlighted in their latest 2007 album, “Live at the Imogene,” as Rick wrote most of the original music on this project that was recorded in the historical Imogene Theatre in Milton, Florida.
Rick Norris’ musical style and lyrical talent have been described as soulful, honest, and revealing. All songs are candidly transparent, and illustrate a life journey of searching, pain, inspiration, and love. Characterized by a new open passion for and embrace of life, each of his latest songs offers a glimpse into Rick’s experiences, and may shed light on some of your own.
