"A Better Place CD Review"

Album Review - RICHARD LYNCH
A Better Place

Daddy's Radio - New Beginnings and Old Honkytonks - It's All In My Head - She's Got Me Drinking Again - Texas Front Porch Swing - Look Out Below - You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma - All By My Lonesome - Hold Your Horses - You Show Me Yours - I Like My Music Country - A Better Place

I was just about to the point where I'd never see or hear some decent country music from today's deliverers. Then along comes an Ohio country music maker, Richard Lynch, who quite frankly is brilliant with this album. The very first song proudly displays a little bit of music from Hank, Ernest, and more, as he introduces "Daddy's Radio." This is a super representation of good modern country music. The steel is still there, and used most effectively, and again in "It's All In My Head." This guy is real country, and so much more than the Keith Urban and others who insist that rock and roll should be the predominant sound of modern country. It doesn't have to be at all, it just takes the music into a so-called new genre that isn't country at all, far from it. Richard Lynch is able to keep his music in the vein of today's country music, but he keeps it country. This music business is sometimes like panning for gold, hoping you might find a little kernel to keep it 'real.' So far what Nashville has been producing for the last many years is devoid of gold. But here, if they would just take a listen, they would find what the real 'evolvement' of the music should be sounding like, and not the hip-hop-rock-slop sound they have contaminated the genre with. This album is truly named correctly, "A Better Place." Certainly for traditional and classic, and even Highwayman style of country. Richard holds true throughout, and by the time we get to "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" with some help from David Frizzell & Stacy Houston, we're right back on track with some super sounding country music. I think the drums were too far out front in the mix, UNLESS you are doing this as a 'dance' album, mostly because there's so many good musical sounds coming from the other instruments, and the too-loud drums distract from that, as well as the beautiful voices and lyrics we are listening to. Richard Lynch is simply brilliant, in "All By My Lonesome" he brings the everlasting 'fiddle' back to his music, and our listening pleasure. The Nashville musicians, who can really play anything you want, must surely have enjoyed this terrific 'country' session. I wish I could have had this album a little earlier to send to the Rural Roots Music Commission for this year's selections for CD of the Year.

Thank you Richard Lynch for a super nice listen.

"Richard Lynch - Love Tattoo"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Nashville, Tennessee – December 22, 2014

The poem, the song, and a place to honor their sacrifice.

Twang Thang Country announces that multi-award winning country music artist Richard Lynch, (www.richardlynchband.com) of Waynesville, Ohio has recently established the non-profit Love Tattoo Foundation to raise awareness and financial assistance for wounded veterans. The singer of, “The Last of A Dying Breed” believes that as we enjoy our freedoms we must always remember those who have sacrificed so much. Through their service, dedication and valor, our Veterans have earned our respect and support. Many Veterans bare the marks of their service with physical and emotional scars and we have an obligation to assist them wherever possible.

The name Love Tattoo was inspired by a poem written by law enforcement officer Chuck Brisbin to honor a Veteran who returned home from Afghanistan severely disfigured. Chuck brought his heartfelt poem to Richard and asked if it could be put to music and perhaps used in a way as to assist our wounded heroes. After working on the song and feeling the emotion it generated, Richard knew it was destined to take on a life of its own, and the Love Tattoo Foundation was born, (www.lovetattoofoundation.org). This foundation recognizes that the horror of war and military service do not end with a tour of duty. Countless Veterans tell stories of ostracism and further wounding when they return home. Many feel they have nowhere to turn, and that is unacceptable.

A primary beneficiary from the Foundations activities will be the unique WilWin Lodge in Trout Lake, Michigan (www.wilwin.org). Previously used as a lumbering operation, WilWin sits on 600 beautiful, wooded acres with over ten miles of groomed trails for hiking, riding, four wheeling, and biking. The property consist of a lodge, which will accommodate fifteen guests, a pavilion and caretakers cabin. A full commercial kitchen is also available in the conference/recreation center. Veterans with physical and emotional disabilities along with their families will be warmly welcomed for rest, relaxation and some quiet rehabilitation.

The official launch of The Foundation comes with the world wide radio release of “Love Tattoo”, which is available for download at all major digital stores. The release will be followed by a major Michigan Legion Riders ride in and Richard Lynch concert in July 2015 at the Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan to benefit The WilWin Lodge.

Promotional and other considerations provided by Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan and The American Legion Department of Michigan.

LOVE TATTOO is a 501(3)C charity, gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by state and federal law.

The Ohio native made music his life years ago and continues to pursue his passion by performing 100's of shows a year and making music that relates to the common man as is evident with this latest offering. A BETTER PLACE is a mixture of all things Lynch, ranging from old-school musings with songs such as "It's All In My Head" and a cover of the classic, "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma", which pairs Lynch with the song's original voice, David Frizzell, on to the rowdy, honky tonk stylings of his lead off single, "She's Got Me Drinkin' Again", a duet with neo-traditionalist, award-winning singer/songwriter, and label owner, Billy Yates.

"Richard Lynch is a voice you recognize the minute you hear it. His passion for real country music and his work ethic make him the kind of artist any label would be proud to work with," says Yates. "To have him as a part of the M.O.D. Record Label roster is an absolute honor."

About Richard Lynch:

Richard Lynch is an American country music artist, who has compiled a long list of country hits and chart toppers in the world of traditional country music. The sounds of Richard Lynch are reminiscent of the classics that started it all. The same passion and raw truth that fueled the likes of Conway Twitty, Keith Whitley, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, and Hank Williams is sewn into the fabric of Richard Lynch. In a world of fabricated country stars, Richard Lynch stands out in the crowd as a proud member of the last of a dying breed, the pure country music artist. His rock solid country roots span 3 decades, it comes up with the sun each morning, and it settles in the music he writes and the songs he sings.. The spirit of Richard Lynch is that which is attached to the working man's soul. It's real and it's timeless. It's country, the way country was meant to be.

Living the life he sings about is what gives Richard Lynch the edge as a singer/songwriter. Richard is a hard working, blue collar man. He is a designer and builder of amazing barns, and as should be expected, he is an American farmer. His everyday life and paying his musical dues by performing at 100's of events a year, all across the country, is that which shaped him into a one-of-a-kind performer. Richard's style is true and it carries into his live shows. Much like his music alone, a live performance of the Richard Lynch Band is something you feel. It's something you carry with you when you walk away. If country music is a gift that sustains in our lives wherever we go, Richard Lynch is the messenger.

Backed by a group of hand selected country musicians, the Richard Lynch Band performs a wide variety of music for the true traditionalist. Ranging from pure country, western swing, rockabilly, outlaw country, and hard driving honky tonk, a Richard Lynch performance will surely warm your country soul. - MOD Records - Nashville, TN

"Saving Country Music"

If you enjoy the 80’s era of traditional country from artists like George Strait, Randy Travis, and Moe Bandy, then Richard Lynch will be right down your alley. Traditional country, but told from a more modern perspective, and with hints of more classic-era influences and even a little bit of Outlaw, Richard Lynch is like a blast from the past for those old soul country fans, but with a strange newness only possible from an artist you’ve just discovered.

Listening to any classic country is always an exercise in nostalgia, but the music of Richard Lynch makes for a more unique experience. Even though he’s an older artist who’s been playing music for some 30 years, Lynch didn’t make his recording debut until 2013. Working as a farmer and a barn builder most of his life, music wasn’t always on the front burner, even if the passion burned inside. But since he’s earned the time to delve deeper into his passion for music, he’s been able to put together a late-age career, and built a following from quality songs and recordings, and from the authenticity of his music since the stories come from his real life.

Quality and authenticity is certainly indicative of his latest record Mending Fences, which is like listening to one of your favorite records from an artist you first discovered some 30 years ago, but it’s all happening right here, right now. When you go to see your favorite older artist or pick up their latest CD, a lot of the enthusiasm you have for them is built from what they’ve done in the past. Not to knock their current efforts, but Richard Lynch is just now getting the opportunity to put the songs out there that will define his musical legacy, like Strait and and Travis did back in earlier eras.

richard-lynch-mending-fencesRichard Lynch resides in the country music world you might see featured on RFD-TV. This is classic, wholesome, values-based traditional country, not your young hipster throwback retro stuff focused more on style than substance. Richard writes and sings songs from his own perspective as a rural dweller from Waynesville, Ohio. The quality of both the songs and the recordings is shockingly good. Songs like “Mending Fences” and “In Over My Heart” remind you of a much simpler time and perspective. It’s like a warm breeze and fishing out on a lake, and the music carries not just quality efforts in the songwriting, but a moral and message missing from most modern country.

That doesn’t mean Richard Lynch can’t deliver a little energy and passion when he decides to. Mending Fences opens with the enthusiastic “Daddy’s Words”—illustrating great country instrumentation right out of the chute, and underlining a message that used to be the hallmark of quality country. Though country protest songs can get a little tedious, Lynch shows he’s not just willing to lead by example, but call em’ like he see’s ’em with the outspoken “Country Music Isn’t Country Anymore.” Another standout track is “Back In Love Again,” which is a duet with the current Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent, showing the respect Lynch has earned from his peers, as well as the lengths gone through to make sure Mending Fences is a quality, high-production effort.

Richard Lynch is true to himself, and true to the era and perspective that his music comes from. But it’s not unfair to say that some will hear this music as fuddy-duddy, outmoded, or lacking a certain edge that they may prefer from their country, even from the more traditional side. This is Cracker Barrel, front porch-sitting, jar of tea and a square of cornbread stuff. For modern “country” fans, it’s grandpa’s music. Even for some younger fans of older country, it might be a little too tame. And it might not be gentrified enough for the Americana lot.

But for those looking for that smooth, simple style of country that has seems to have been lost in time—just like it feels they have been—they will find a lot of favor with Richard Lynch and Mending Fences. - Trigger

Bio

You would be hard-pressed to find a musician as authentic as Richard Lynch, whose traditional country music fully embodies his hay-raising, farm-dwelling lifestyle. An all-American, blue collar country man, Lynch has poured his heart and soul into the countless chart-topping hits he and his band have produced. His music is 100% real country, evoking some of the great classics who influenced him, like Keith Whitley. Conway Twitty, and George Strait. For three decades and counting, Lynch has written, sung, and performed his songs with passion and dedication, building himself up into an independent country music sensation. While his musical roots are grounded in pure country, his songs also showcase elements of western swing, honky tonk and outlaw country.

Living the life he sings about is what gives Richard Lynch the edge as a singer/songwriter. Richard is a hard working, personification of pure country. He has been a designer and builder of amazing barns, and as should be expected, he is an American farmer. His everyday life and paying his musical dues by performing at 100's of events & shows a year, all across the country, is that which shaped him into a one-of-a-kind performer. Richard's style is true and it carries into his live shows. Much like his music alone, a live performance of the Richard Lynch Band is something you feel. It's something you carry with you when you walk away. If country music is a gift that sustains in our lives wherever we go, Richard Lynch is the messenger.

Lynch released his third studio album on April 1st, on Fence Row Records and he is already climbing the major radio charts. "Mending Fences" is an incredible 12 track project of pure country music. The title track, written by Lesley McDaniel, Fost Daniel, Jesse Daniel and Nick Hall is an outstanding example of what country music was meant to be. Like all great country songs, it comes with a story; "Good luck on the new album Richard. Mending Fences isn't the product of a fancy writer's room on music row. It was written in a barn, on an extremely cold northeast Alabama morning while sitting around an old homemade wood burning barrel heater. It's a legitimate country song and me and my co-writers are glad it found a legitimate country singer"........... Writer Nick Hall

"Mending Fences" also includes a stunning, heart felt duet with the amazing Rhonda Vincent.
