Bio

                                                 Naketa Jackson

Versatile: vivacious and sassy Jamaican-born entertainment sensation Naketa Jackson sees the world as her oyster and has plunged in boldly with both feet: determined to gain fans and win industry respect in one fell swoop. A model: actress: dancer: poet: culinary wonder and sought-after singer: Jackson is hard at work putting the finishing touches on her debut CD “Fiery:” which is scheduled to be released internationally in October 2005. Jackson has been enjoying solid buzz as three of the singles from the CD “Push it on me:” “Summertime:” and “Passion:” have been in heavy rotation of various music themed shows around the world. And with good reason.

Fresh from shooting the video for “Summertime:” in the lush: verdant greenery of Ocho Rios: the picturesque enclave in Jamaica: Jackson is excited by the warmth with which the new video has been received and the enormous groundswell of support that the filming garnered. “The video for ‘Summertime’ was directed by Suzie Q: who hosts Video Alley on CIN:” Jackson said. Moreover: she is gratified that Rob DeNiro: who produced for J. Lo in the past: and Sean Due who has worked with Alicia Keys: have come on board to usher the “Fiery” CD into reality. “I’m working with Rob now and Sean produced “Push it on me:” she said.

Jackson has come a long way from Payne Land: near Three Miles in Kingston: Jamaica. From an early age she was surrounded by music: which seeped into her soul and shaped her destiny. “I started singing at two and joined the church choir at eight:” she recalled. “My grandfather is a talented singer: as are my parents—even though my father was more serious about singing than my mother was.” After spending her formative years under the musical influence of her father (Devon Jackson: also known as Jah Screw) and grandfather (Lascelles Perkins): she migrated to the United States at age 16 and lived with her grandmother: Eurabelle Muir whom she loving refers to as her “heart and soul.”

Jackson poignant recalls that she drew early inspiration for her music. she would channel her emotions into songs of solace. “I would just get up and sing to take my mind off things. It is a passion I was born with:” said Jackson: acknowledging that she has been drawn broader musical influence from such powerhouses as Whitney Houston: Celine Dion: Patti LaBelle and the perennial reggae legend Robert Nesta Marley. “My style is somewhat similar to Diana King but I have my own unique flair:” Jackson said. “I want to make my mark on the world musically.”

But the dynamic entrepreneur: who runs her own talent group: Fiery Ize Entertainment: refuses to be pigeon-holed. With the completion of “Fiery:” close at hand: Jackson is busy adding to her repertoire so that she remains multi-talented. “I modeled widely before I began putting on my own events at colleges and other venues:” she said: explaining that she intends to launch a clothing line in the near future when the time is right. Probably her most expansive venture will be the grand opening of Nakeeta’s International Caribbean Cuisine tentatively set for February of 2006. “I’m a good cook so I intend to put my extra touch at the restaurant to make sure it is all right:” she said.

As busy as her hectic lifestyle makes her: Jackson finds time to mentor younger children. “I am hard working: independent: determined and quite loving and I see myself as a role model to others:” she explained. Jackson is diligently crafting music which she describes as a “fusion of R&B: pop: reggae and soul:” which encompass the myriad emotions and layers that imbues her personal style. Armed with raw passion: a strong sense of focus and indomitable will: she is: unquestionably: poised for greatness.
