"Guitarist Michael Hermes, 14, Demos Kiesel/Carvin Guitars' Jason Becker "Numbers" Tribute Model — Video"

Below, check out a recently posted holdover from the 2015 Winter NAMM Show.

It's a video of young guitarist Michael Hermes demoing Kiesel Guitars/Carvin Guitars' new Jason Becker "Numbers" Tribute model at the Kiesel/Carvin NAMM booth at the January show.

Says Jeff Kiesel on the company's Facebook page:

"I'm excited to announce that [Kiesel/Carvin] and Michael are now working together! Michael may very well be the youngest endorser to grace our roster. His weapon of choice [is the] Carvin CT624T carved-top guitar.

"For the past eight years, Michael has played at various venues throughout the Northwest, alongside some very seasoned and well-known musicians and onstage with the Portland School of Rock.

"At 14, Michael is an accomplished musician and songwriter. He plays classical guitar (studying under Scott Kritzer), electric guitar and piano and writes music on the keyboard. His influences include Hans Zimmer, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Jeff Beck and Andrés Segovia."

Bio

Michael Hermes' passionate and adventurous style—instrumental, cinematic progressive rock—can ultimately be defined as a cross between Plini and film score composer, Hans Zimmer.

Growing up in Happy Valley, Oregon, Hermes showed musical passion long before he began playing guitar at the age of six. Bands like Skillet and RED drove him to improve every day, gaining as much as knowledge as possible about writing, playing, producing and mixing music through the guitar. After over 13 years, he has released several original releases that have received highly favorable feedback from several seasoned veterans of the industry.

Michael Hermes' discography yields motivation and passion to listeners of all genres. As his compositions reflect personal experiences, fans can relate and connect to the diverse emotions that are painted within his music. With each subsequent release—from 2016's 'Wonders of the Unknown' to 2019's 'Hit the Eyes'—Hermes has continually diversified his profile, reinventing the progressive-rock genre and remaining apart from the crowd.

The latest EP 'Hit the Eyes' (released February 10th, 2019) embarks the journey of self-awareness, as events in Michael Hermes' life drew a new perspective; hence the name, 'Hit the Eyes'. Throughout the release, thick and powerful bass and drums lay down the foundation for premeditated guitar melodies, glued together by enormous, non-intrustive atmospheres. The consistent balance of storytelling, soloing and riffage keeps the listener engaged until the final phrase.
