Bio
Melina Marie is a singer-songwriter based in the Chicago suburbs. Her style is indie folk/pop and her writing is all about her personal experiences in life, from a girl she had a crush on from class to the guy who won’t stop sending nudes and can’t take a hint. Her songwriting is strong and flexible for her mood, both instrumentally and lyrically, and her vocal style is calming and sweet making for original, dream-like music. Melina’s music is heavily influenced by artists such as Fiona Apple and St. Vincent. Growing up in the Joliet area, her dad played guitar in a metal band and her mom wrote poetry. This gave Melina a lot of inspiration and natural talent. Around 10/11, she would begin writing about everyday life, whether it be profound or subtle happenings and then began to play the piano. She pursued choir and the euphonium in high school and officially began a music career when she attended Joliet Junior College in 2017. There she got her associates degree in music and later began teaching as well. Since then, Melina has gotten to perform open-mic gigs both at the Drunken Donut in Joliet and the Port Noir wine bar in Lockport. She currently continues to write a variety of songs and post them to her social media. Melina’s first single, “Maliya,” was just released in March on Spotify and Apple Music, and her song, “No, I Don’t Wanna,” was recently played on the radio.
