"On The Home Front - Matt Goodrich"

MATT GOODRICH
Port Clinton native Matt Goodrich started playing live shows only four months ago. His first shows were for handfuls of people. Later this month he will play in front of thousands when he shares the stage with country stars Chris Lane, Claire Dunn, Frankie Ballard, and Brett Eldredge at the Country Night Lights festival in Athens, Ohio.

Goodrich, was the winner of the Country Night Lights Invitational hosted by wavo.me, and earned a 30 minute performance slot at the festival on Saturday September 24. The singer and songwriter won for his original song, “Walk” which bested contestants from a six-state area. The singer/songwriter will perform his acoustic show with covers and originals for what will be his biggest show so far.
Goodrich will continue to keep honing his acoustic show at taverns, bars and festivals all over Northwestern Ohio. He will be performing at The Cove Inn at Sandusky Bay on Friday, September 16; Vickery Tavern in Vickery on Saturday, September 17; Bluto’s Sports Bar & Grill in Norwalk on Thursday, September 22. The day after his Country Night Lights performance he will play at his hometown’s Homecoming Festival. The Port Clinton event is on Sunday, September 25 and Goodrich will entertain throughout the day.

PORT CLINTON

Riverfront concert series returns

PORT CLINTON — Main Street Port Clinton will continue its Riverfront Live concert series Friday night.
Local musician Matt Goodrich is scheduled to perform.
The concert is free to the public and will take place underneath the blue canopy on the North Jefferson Street Pier.
“I've been playing guitar for about 20 years,” Goodrich said. “I started out playing classics like Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles, then moved on to alternative like Nirvana, and finally started listening to country music within the last year.”
Goodrich doesn’t just play covers, but is also a talented songwriter in his own right.
He recently placed well in a local song writing contest. He’s passionate about his artistry and hopes his enthusiasm will increase the audience’s enjoyment.
“I don't want to just go through the motions of playing popular songs,” Goodrich said. “I want to play them well enough that people don't mind taking an hour out of their day to sit and listen.”
Port Clinton Main Street is a nonprofit group that strives to preserve Port Clinton’s heritage while create new opportunities for the downtown and the community.
The Riverfront Live concert series was first staged by Main Street years ago and was recently revived.
“It’s just something that we wanted to put on downtown for the community,” president of Main Street Nikki Adams said. “It’s completely free of charge. People can wander in after shopping or having dinner and enjoy a free performance.”
The concerts are every Friday night through Sept. 2. - Sandusky Register
