Los Cenzontles and Andre Thierry unite their respective Mexican and Zydeco traditions into an energizing, soulful new sound. Their cross-cultural collaborative recording and live shows reveals and connects two of America's rich heritages. Accordion, guitars, drums, congas, washboard, jawbone and percussivedance all combine to color this vibrant performance. French, Spanish and English mix fluidly, creating a fresh lyrical voice.
Los Cenzontles (los senn-sont-less) has made a name for themselves among music aficionados across the US and in Europe, collaborating on record and live with Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, David Hidalgo and The Chieftains, among others. Their media productions have been broadcast nationally on PBS.
Andre Thierry, rising star of Zydeco music carries forth his honored traditions while breaking new ground with his signature sound. He has collaborated with Sammy Hagar, Narada Michael Walden, and Elvin Bishop and has performed at Jazz Fest in New Orleans; Monterey Blues Festival; Festival International Lafayette, Louisiana and at the New Orleans Cajun and Zydeco Festival.
Los Cenzontles (The Mockingbirds) and Andre Thierry both hail from theRichmond / San Pablo area of San Francisco's East Bay, a working class neighborhood, home to Creole and Mexican American communities forgenerations. Steeped in their cultures, both groups have passionately embraced and cultivated their traditions into uniquely powerful voices.
