"Exclusive: Lily Elise Premieres Spellbinding Alt-Pop Song 'Taken'"

If you're into any kind of edgy pop, R&B, or even EDM, we've got a feeling you're going to dig this one. The Voice season one alumnus Lily Elise has a killer new single called "Taken" that's a mesmerizing mix of a little of all three.

"Taken" is the title track from Elise's forthcoming debut EP, due late summer 2015. The singer reveals that it comes from a deeply personal space, between her love of music and love between people.

"'Taken' is the breakup song of the EP," Elise tells Billboard. "Growing up, my grandma always said to me, 'The space for what you want, is being taken by what you settled for.' What I've always wanted, with a deep sense of certainty, is to share my music and my voice with the world. Because of that I've always been extremely focused on music, which doesn't leave much room for love. It wedged a divide in the relationship, and we grew further apart as he realized he would never mean more to me than my music. Hopefully I find someone someday that does, but he wasn't that person. I wrote 'Taken' with Jenn Deciliveo as a piano ballad and Felix Snow brought the song to life with his production."

Snow (who's also worked with SZA, Gallant and Nicole Scherzinger) isn't the only key collaborator on Taken. She also works with Dan Nigro (Sky Ferreira, AlunaGeorge) and Mighty Mike (Kelly Clarkson, Dojo).

"Taken" joins previous offerings "Suitcases" and "Generator" as tracks for the upcoming EP. - Billboard

"Lily Elise - Suitcases"

Today we are proud to premiere the newest single from upcoming singer, Lily Elise. Before we say anything else, listen to what Lily had to say about the release:

"Suitcases is about falling for someone who is emotionally unavailable. On the timeline of this EP, Suitcases is set in the beginning. It has a light, fun feel to it because it was the start of something exciting, but at the same time he was always holding back. I wrote this one with Soaky Siren and Mighty Mike and it was one of the easiest. It basically wrote itself. It just felt really good and really natural."

As soon as you hit play on this record, you will be entranced by her beautiful voice. With some simple, pop production that his hints of electronic at times, this song is both upbeat and tranquil at the same time. This Bay area singer is destined for big things next year, and if you like what you hear above, then check out her video for Generator. And if you think her name looks familiar, you may recognize her from her being featured on Felix Cartal's hit "Let It Go". Enjoy! - Good Music All Day

"Lily Elise - Taken (Music Video Premiere)"

Today we are proud to premiere the latest video from Lily Elise! After being named one of the top Female Artists To Watch at last years GMAD Music Awards, Lily Elise has kept her buzz stronger than ever

Back in March, Billboard premiered the audio for "Taken" and now the visuals for this EP single has been released. Elise’s EP consists of collaborations with Felix Snow (Sza, Gallant, Nicole Sherzinger), Dan Nigro (Sky Ferreira, Aluna George, Twin Shadow), Mighty Mike (Dojo, Sirah, Kelly Clarkson), Erik Belz & Danny Score (Jez Dior) and more. It’s first single, “Generator,” which All Things Go declared “a stunning combination of pop and R&B that few can pull off” was released in November and hit #1 on the Twitter hype chart. “Suitcases” and “Generator” each hold an important place as an expressive chapter in Elise’s larger coming-of-age tale.

“The songs on this EP are a culmination of two years of hard work,” shares Elise. "They tell a story of struggling to find myself in the midst of an unknown career path and a destructive relationship, from beginning to end. They are my babies and while I’m terrified to push them out of the nest, I’m also extremely proud and excited to watch them fly.”
