Welcome to this week’s edition of the Regional Music Limelight post. It brings me great joy to introduce Levi Abney. Levi grew up in Louisianans. Like most folks after Katrina, he found himself looking for a new place to put down his roots. A trip up interstate 59 brought his family through Fort Payne, Alabama were a need for fuel caused them to stop long enough to take in the beautiful mountain views. That’s all it took for them to decide Lookout Mountain would be home.
Levi is a self-taught singer, self- taught songwriter, and self- taught musician. His singing career began at the age of 15. Levi started writing his own songs ten years later. In, 2015 Levi’s dad gave him his first guitar with one string attached Levi had one year to learn how to play. It only took a few months for Levi to play his first song on the guitar. After, a great deal of encouragement from family and friends Levi has set out to chase his dream. DeKALB COUNTY, Ala. — Local artist Levi Abney will debut his very first single this August.
Abney is a native of Louisiana, but after Hurricane Katrina, he, like many others, found
himself looking for a new place to put down his roots.
A trip up Interstate 59 brought his family through Fort Payne, Ala., where a need for fuel
caused them to stop long enough to take in the beautiful mountain views. After that, Abney
and his family would call Lookout Mountain home.
Abney is a self-taught singer-songwriter who began his musical journey at age 15. It was ten
years later that he wrote his first song. In 2015, Abney’s father gave him his first guitar with
just one string attached. It only took a few months for Abney to get the hang of the
instrument.
Now after a great deal of encouragement, Abney is pursuing his music dreams.

Levi Abney
Levi Abney is a resident of the small town of Fort Payne, Alabama. He began his music career at the age of 15 and has excelled ever since.
Levi started off a singer and through personal drive and a supporting family, he is now a self-taught and experienced guitarist and songwriter. Levi has performed at many venue's across Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. This includes Tootsies Orchid Lounge on the legendary music row in Nashville, Tennessee.
Levi Abney is currently recording songs for his first ever full album that he is diligently working on completing for release in late 2019.
