Kharisma Jazzmatic Funk

Kharisma Jazzmatic Funk was formed six years ago in the north mountains of Georgia in the small town of Ellijay. Surrounded by southern rock and country rock bands, husband and wife team, Terry and Venae Ellis, brought together a group of talented musicians who were passionate about playing dance, soul, funk, and jazz music. Bassist, Tyrone Bell, stepped up as the band's music director to prepare the group for its first performance, which was an annual July 4th music festival in downtown Ellijay and the crowd response was overwhelming. At that time, Kharisma Jazzmatic Funk was officially born and after just a couple of years performing as a popular cover band mastering in a variety of genres ranging from motown to smooth jazz to classic rock to country and infusing their signature funky groove into every song, Kharisma developed a loyal and diverse fan base who frequently asked when Kharisma would be releasing their first album. In response, the work began in earnest about three years ago on original music for the Kharisma Album project tapping into artistic influences from such great musical greats as Nile Rodgers, Herbie Hancock, Sade, Jill Scott, Incognito, among others. On June 3, 2014, Kharisma successfully completed their debut album displaying their signature funk groove and silky jazz vocals across a variety of genres touching on jazz funk, electronic dance music (EDM), neo-soul, hip-hop, and urban contemporary.

Its important to mention, every Kharisma Jazzmatic Funk band member enthusiastically contributed to the new album providing their creative input, and when it was time to record, all the musicians arrived at Spotlight Recording Studio located in Alpharetta, GA, on time to quickly lay down their tracks (within 2-3 takes) to ensure the cost of recording was contained to a minimum.  According to Venae Ellis, Kharisma lead vocalist, "The band truly functions as a close-knit family, and each member makes personal sacrifices to ensure the success of the band as a whole. It's truly a beautiful thing!"  All of the Kharisma Jazzmatic Funk band members are excited about officially launching the new "Eye Candy - Too Sweet" album and they are excite to have the opportunity to reach out to their new fans.
