"Kevin Daniel Release solid sophomore offering with “Myself Through You”"

Kevin Daniel might be a new name to you but remember it because his country-leaning rock and moody ballads really showcase his anthemic songwriting and hoarse-throated vocals and we hope he’s here to stay.

"Perfect Tribute: Kevin Daniel – “No Elma”"

The perfect tribute to man’s best friend. I love this song so much. Kevin Daniel has more passion in his voice than most people I’ve heard. His combining of pure country and Americana with some great piano and guitar work make this song achingly beautiful. Daniel’s voice is so rough yet tender as he sings about his best friend ever (by the way, it’s ok to let your friend sleep in your bed). I totally rocked to this song, but I did tear thinking about my Molly. Thanks, Kevin. You made my day, my year, my life. Long may you sing for us. Check out “Born A Preacher”; another fantastic song. - Audio Fuzz

"Video Premiere: Kevin Daniel’s “Faded Red” From Rockwood Music Hall"

Americana Highways presents this video premiere of “Faded Red” by Kevin Daniel from recent EP Myself Through You. The video is a live performance captured at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall. It captures the authentically live feel, with Kevin Daniel (vocals, acoustic guitar), Mark Anselm and Billy Pearson (electric guitars), Renee Hikari (drums), Eli Chalmer (trombone), Adam O’Farrill (trumpet), Doug Goldstein (banjo), and Judd Nielson (organ), with Roman Urbanski and Irene Blackman (vocals).

The video was shot, edited, and directed by Eric Ambrosio and recorded live at Rockwood Music Hall. It’s close-up and personal, and you’ll feel like you’re right there enveloped in the sacred space of the New York performance. Kevin Daniel’s wry resigned vocals wind in among the instruments in a lively, stirring performance. Watch and escape for a few minutes.

This is one of the final live videos from the 2018 EP “Myself Through You.” It was recorded at Rockwood Music Hall, which is probably my favorite venue in New York City for both emerging and established artists. You can walk in any of the day week and expect to see amazing music of all kinds, often for free. I love performing at Rockwood, especially with a large, amazing band like this. — Kevin Daniel - Americana Highways

"Listen to Myself Through You"

The 2nd EP from the Brooklyn troubadour Kevin Daniel brings more greatness in the form of heartfelt Americana where pedal steel, flugelhorn and banjo help flesh out some very memorable tunes.

The quick listen starts with the swift acoustic strumming and tambourine fun of “Myself Through You”, and “Golden” brings a more country spirited approach to a warm track. “Born A Preacher” may sound gospel, but moves with a cautious Americana feeling where backing vocals and a lush atmosphere make it the EP highlight, while “Faded Red” brings freewheelin’ banjos for a danceable, bluegrass moment. The listen ends with “Hardcore Medicine”, a soulful roots rocker with organs and splendid vocals from Daniel that ties in all the things we love about Myself Through You.

Though he’s been in countless other bands in his lengthy musical career, the impetus for Daniel’s solo work came to life at after his mother and stepfather died in a plane crash in 2013. As to be expected, Daniel takes on deep topics, tells stories with much sincerity, and leaves the listener anxiously awaiting an LP with these strong 5 tunes.

Bio

Kevin Daniel’s music career started when he was just five years old and singing Disney songs into a turkey baster turned microphone. A year later he was enrolled in music lessons, starting on piano and eventually picking up the sax, and by middle school was playing in state symphonic bands, touring with classical horn trios, and singing his heart out any chance he could get.

Ultimately Kevin found his place in the jazz and blues scene in highschool and college, while also exploring his talents as a guitar player. By the time he graduated from George Washington University, Daniel had played in two quartets, four high school orchestras, two jazz and blue bands, one bluegrass band, one punk ska group, and even sang tenor in an acapella group. But it was his move to New York City in 2013, and a sudden and unexpected tragedy, that put Kevin on the path towards his eventual solo career.

That winter, during a dinner party in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Kevin received a phone call from his sister that would change everything. His mother and stepfather, adventure-seekers and amateur pilots, had been flying back from their mountain house in western North Carolina when their plane had crashed, killing both of them. Daniel’s life was turned upside down, his family torn apart and the world forever changed. During his return to North Carolina to help with family business, and while reliving his parent’s lives through photos, essays, and family stories, Kevin wrote over a dozen songs, all fueled by the grief of losing his parents as well as the celebration of the large lives they were known for. From those songs six were chosen to record, including one written specifically for Kevin’s parent’s memorial service.

The result of those recordings was FLY, Kevin Daniel’s inaugural EP. The six-song project was recorded in 2014 in Brooklyn and embodies the depth of Daniel’s emotions during a time of supreme distress. Southern sounds of banjo and country-loving three-part harmonies were backed by rock riffs and pop lyrics, which spoke true to life and the celebration of living. “I always knew I wanted to record my own music, and a life spent being in other people’s bands had prepared me to lead my own, both in the studio and on the stage. It was losing my parents that gave me the kick in the ass to finally do it”, says Daniel. The EP is available on all digital outlets as well as on 12-inch opaque blue vinyl.

Kevin Daniel then went on to create his second EP, Myself Through You, which was recorded at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn, NY, and produced, engineered, and mixed by Ben Rice. Kevin gathered together a host of talented, professional musicians from all backgrounds for the project, which resulted in a richly recorded blend of genres and instruments. “When I started thinking about this EP, I knew I wanted to get some of the best musicians I know in the studio. With Ben’s help we created a space where people could come in, lay down their own version of the parts, and create something unique to them as well as the record,” says Kevin.

Most recently, Daniel released his first full length album, 'Things I Don't See'. The album has been played on radio stations around the world, garnering praise from the likes of Relix, American Songwriter Magazine, and the BBC. Kevin was chosen as official selection for SxSW 2020, Mountain Jam 2020, Celebrate, Fairfax 2020, and The ListeningRoom Fest 2020.

Following the release of his recent LP in late 2019, Kevin Daniel will look to tour throughout the US, taking a full band, and explosive live performance to his soon to be new fans.
