Bio

I was nine years old when I first knew that all I wanted to do was rap. I knew exactly where I was too. It was at the Jackie Robinson YMCA off of Imperial Ave. During an introduction circle some kid stood up and introduced himself by saying, “My name is Drew and I’m from Peru…” and I saw how these few words made the crowd react and left them in awe. How they were all in enjoyment. How to this day I still wonder if this kid was from Peru. At that moment, I knew I was in love. I didn’t know much about this “rhyme thing” but I was intrigued and needed more. Before I knew what money did; or how to drive a car or make sweet love to a beautiful woman, I knew that I wanted to move people with my words. A week later at that same YMCA I remember reciting my own rhymes for my pops and a buddy of his. The cheers and compliments from them left me feeling proud of myself and that I might good at this.

In 2nd grade, at Sweetwater Springs Elementary, I told Mrs. Beaz that I’d be on t.v. one day. Fast forward to 7th grade and I’m 12 years old at La Mesa Middle School. I hear of other rappers at the school but was never intimidated. I remember being late to P.E. because of a freestyle battle I was having with another student, but it was worth it. As an 8th grader my passion had only grown. I keep a composition book in my backpack, filling it with rhymes. Over time those rhymes became songs, and a future in music became seemingly more apparent. When I was 13 and done middle school, I moved in with my Aunt and Uncle in a new part of town. New school, new friends, new composition book.

I moved to Oak Park in 06′ and started 9th grade at Crawford High that same year. Throughout high school I was dedicated to writing lyrics, but new temptations were entering my life. This was both a gift and a curse. More inspiration. More distraction. In the 11th grade I recorded several songs and released them on Myspace. As I grew, at 15 or 16, I started to also notice changes in the “hip-hop” that I have always loved. I began to loath, disappointed in the direction that it took. I never wanted it to be about the money, and I hated the idea of “industry”. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that there is nothing else in this world that I would rather do than write, record and perform.

Many years and lessons later, in early 2019, I bump into an old friend at a new job and he asked me, “You still doing music?” The answer, unfortunately, was "No.". This friend of mine happened to be Seven Ceez, a record producer and engineer based in San Diego. He invited me to the studio in November of 2019 for a sit in and once I heard the beat they were working on, I instantly got to writing. They asked me if I wanted to get in the booth to record and I couldn’t refuse. I wrote and recorded my verse for "Underestimate" in two hours. Since then it has been all or nothing. If it’s not about the music, I probably won’t do it.

I’ve released 5 singles so far, three of which being "So Many" featuring and produced by Seven Ceez in March, "Wake Up" produced DJ C-Riz in July, and "Cost of Love" featuring and produced by BXNESNMEICH. With multiple projects in progress, I understand that the future is what you make it, and I’m stoked. Bless!
