Josh Thornhill

“There is a very unique gift placed within each and every one of us, that is necessary for the kingdom of God.”

The Louisiana born worship leader, musician and songwriter, Josh Thornhill found his gift was writing songs that are able to touch you to the core. At the early age of 15, he wrote his first composition. He has realized that whenever a song comes into fruition that it has a mission. At first he didn’t realize what the mission was for his music, but when he came to know Jesus at 18 years of age everything started to become clear. Although Josh does not only write praise and worship songs, he believes the Spirit of God can be released through any type of music, whether it is a praise and worship song, a rock song, an old hymn, or a simple ballad with a catchy melody

“When we make it a point to worship together we are releasing God’s power to change people’s hearts and lives.” My role is not to bring attention to the music in itself, but rather allow the message of the music to bring peoples focus on God.

“Light up the night with the fire of first love.” is a line from the title track “First Love” from his upcoming album. The song’s mission is to beckon the world to come back to its first love, Jesus Christ. Josh has recently released the single, electronically, as a precursor to his upcoming album release along with an upbeat praise track called “Greater Fire.” Entering a citywide battle of the bands in Forth Worth, TX Josh and his band gained  the notoriety to begin playing bigger conferences. Whatever the setting – whether it’s a church sanctuary, a coffee shop, or an amphitheater, Josh takes a simple song and turns it into a journey. His goal is to create a longing for the atmosphere of praise in people’s lives because in the atmosphere of praise is where we can truly take our eyes off of self.
