Bio

Jimmy Ojo (J.Mulla) was born August 17, 1988 in Bronx, New York. J.Mulla started music when he purchased his first instrument; the trumpet. At age 7 he learned how to play it and continued playing in the band for his schools Templeton Elementary School in Riverdale, Maryland and Christ Ambassador's College located in Nigeria. At age 10 his family moved to Nigeria and built a house in Ibadan Oyo State. J.Mulla didn't give up his musical dream as he continued playing that trumpet even at church. Growing up he started listening to records from 2Pac, and Biggie Smalls which helped him make that decision on pursuing rap. J.Mulla bought a copy of 50cent's debut album "Get Rich or Die Trying", and at age 15 he began to write his own music getting inspiration from artist like Jay z, 50cent, Eminem, 2pac, Biggie. He recorded his 1st mix tape ever in 2004 called "Live for everything die for nothing" on his CD/Tape player where he found instrumentals in random CDs and recorded over a tape while dubbing the CD.
Pursing a Rap career was hard for J.Mulla due to the restrictions of his parents. When his dad noticed he got deeper into the craft of music, J.Mulla would come home to see his rap books torn up in the trash and all music albums either broken or seized. His dad must have felt the genre of music his son was listening to influenced his behavior and drifted him away from education.

J.Mulla didn't stop his passion, he started getting recognition from his peers that he could rap and made appearances at class parties, school homecomings, social events and this established him as an artist. At the time he was know by the rap name "Silver Dollar". J.Mulla kept his dream alive and continued to write music which helped developed the art of free styling. He met Joseph his best friend who came from Nashville and also like J.Mulla moved to Nigeria with his parents. Joseph added the push to J.Mulla and together they created a rap group called "Dynasty". In 2005 Dynasty was a group of their peers who also liked music or just wanted to be in a group. Within weeks the group got popular amongst students and eventually got shutdown by the school board. J.Mulla along side Joseph worked on various mix tape at a time, they called an old recording studio home where they would record over 20 songs a month and put them in tapes to pass out gaining more recognition. In 2007 J.Mulla gained admission into Bowen University where he gained a lot of popularity immediately resuming school due to his rap career. He worked with a lot of Nigerian producers like OJB Jezreel, G-Maks just to name a few. J.Mulla Performed at every major school event, which made known celebrities start looking in on him. He did a popular track called Gotem Going featuring Terry Tha Rapman. In 2011 his 1st hit single Mogbona hit the Nigerian charts and help push his name into what it is now. J.Mulla still tried keeping his originality, dropping exclusive material but couldn't get a full following due to his American rap lyrics and style. In Nigeria, rap music wasn't the fan favorite at the time but still gaining attention he released more music and eventually started working with labels, but being put on the bench due to his style.

In 2012 J.Mulla packed up and moved back to Maryland, where he reunited himself with his cousin/manager Manni Bade the owner of BADE Entertainment Co. who also partakes in the music business. Furthering his love for music J.Mulla worked with various artists as soon as he got back to America. J.Mulla performed his hit single at Taste Ultra Lounge in Washington DC, and Oxygen Lounge in Baltimore, MD. With his mild Nigerian fame he went on a radio tour up and down the east coast. He collaborated with Big Klef and Luminarty on the Agbalagba project. J.Mulla realized he needed to change up his style to draw in the American crowd so he worked with producers like Dboy, D-Rail, and Knolly Boy and more releasing records like StuntN featuring Lightshow and CREAM featuring Luminarty performed at Tropicalia in Washington, DC; just to name a few who helped him understand the business better to transform him into the artist he is today. J.Mulla today is a ruthless, fearless, one thing on his mind artist who isnt following the everyday rappers trend, he started his own genre called 2.0 to put him and other people like him into a category. 2.0 arent only a genre but also a way of life; to be 2 times better at everything youre passionate about. J.Mulla is now in the studio working on his new project soon to drop in early 2014, and gearing up for another radio tour. Look out for more Great things with this Artist; follow him on social media @WithJMulla. Thank You.
