Bio

Like any self respecting felines, these cats reside in the dark alleys of a dying Indie Rock Scene. A last litter straight from the loins of an unexpected southeastern Illinois. Jerod and the Cat is a unique duo like you’ve never scene before.

While both separately purr-sue individual projects, they cant help but occasionally answer the call of the wild. A hunt for noise. With passion and profound dynamics they weave a ball of sound as if it was a ball of yarn. Simply like you’ve never heard.

With influences varying from the late eighties lo-fi, ‘do it yourself’ indie rock scene to mid 60’s & 70’s folk rock, singers & songwriters, and the occasional ol’ fashion punk rock. Like true felines, the “Indie Rock Duo” of Jerod and the Cat always manage to land on their feet.

The band is comprised of Joe Davis, the reluctant frontman and guitarist. He’s surprisingly very charismatic and expressive. He manages to stir vocally between his inner conflicts in personal relationship, his loss of faith in humanity and his weird yet quirky perspective on our world. He’s been is several other projects including SludgeMonster, Shadow’s Seamstress, & The Kessel Runners. His cohort and collaborator is Damon Mitchell. Damon is the backbone of J&tC. His understated drumming style is like nothing you’ve ever seen. He too has a quirky since of personality, which compliments Mr. Davis’. As a lefty playing right handed, you’ll stare in awe at his rambunctious mannerisms. Typically a frontman himself. Mr. Mitchell is no stranger to the music industry. He has been in several other groups as well. Beginning in the Southern Gospel Dynasty of “The Mitchell’s”, Mr. Mitchell has been in the music industry his entire life.  Other past projects included, Outspoken, Emergency Dental Surgery, and Grapevine Fires. He’s currently in the beginning stages of releasing his own self labeled album.

They pride themselves in bridging a line between catchy melodic guitar parts to hair raising, grab you by the face, stick in your head guitar riffs, and vocals that you’ll be humming or contemplating the whole way home. They’re free spirited unique percussion patterns, will honestly leave you in awe.

This is one duo, you won’t want to miss. They say every cat has 9 lives. Come out and watch them use all of them. You’ll be clawing for more!
