Jamie Saylor

 Who is Jamie Saylor? Is he a songwriter, singer, artist, or just a waiter trying to make it?  "Yep all of it." All of the ups and downs of the "New Nashville" he's living everyday. In a dive bar where Roots Rock, Americana, and Blues collide is where you’ll find him.

   Saylor's unique soulful voice with a distinctive Southern drawl have led him to play for audiences all over the Southeast.  His talents as a songwriter have helped to land cuts by other artists, and in TV and film.  For the better part of the past decade he's been living the dream writing songs in the top of a barn off highway 76.  When asked about it, his only response is "I Love That Place." 

"Not all who wander are lost, not all who hear listen, and that's why I chose the road and music," says Saylor. 

   It was in New Zealand where Saylor first began singing and playing. In search of fresh air and fresh perspective, he moved to the land of the long white cloud in 2006.  For the next year with only a guitar and backpack he travelled the country working in bars, living in hostels, meeting people from all over the world, and discovering an unwavering passion for music.   

   “One of my first experiences playing live was living in a hostel room with seven other guys from Brazil.  We all got free room and board in exchange for work, and my job was to clean the toilets. Some of them didn't even speak English and I could barely play, but one night after cheap beer and box wine I played an Elvis song.  When the music started, one guy starts beating on a coffee can and the whole room starts dancing.  When I felt the joy everyone experienced I knew music was for me.”     

“Most of my songs come from my own experiences. I guess that’s the good thing about going through so much pain, you ain’t gotta make it up.”
