Jacob Kulak a Glastonbury resident and student at Kingswood Oxford School was recently inducted into the Connecticut Blues Hall of Fame as a blues/guitar performer and his song, “Better,” the first single off his album, was selected as one of 1,000 semifinalists out of 16,000 submissions in an international song competition, according to a press release from Kingswood Oxford School. - West Hartford News

Bio

Award-winning musician and guitar phenom, Jake Kulak has been performing professionally in front of audiences since the age of 12.  Thrilling audiences from Norway to Boston, from Sydney to NYC, and down to the Mississippi Delta, Jake plays guitar-driven blues rock music which highlights his improvisational and jam abilities. His set list includes original rock and contemporary blues/rock music which he writes himself, as well as unique covers of blues and funk artists.  

Jake has spent the last five summers playing in the home of the Blues - Clarksdale, Mississippi.   Jake was named one of the top young blues artists performing today by Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine.  He and his power trio, Jake Kulak and the LowDown were also nominated for a New England Music Award for “Best New Act of the Year”. In 2019, they competed all summer in the Foxwoods Resort Casino’s prestigious “Battle of the Bands” and took home the $10,000 Grand Prize award.  His original pop song “Better” was chosen as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, the “competition to take note of”, according to the New York Times. In June 2018, Jake Kulak and the LowDown won the CT Blues Society Band Challenge and performed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2019.   Jake’s debut album “Get Faded and Go” was recognized in The Hartford Courant’s “Best Album by CT Musicians in 2018”.  

Jake is joined onstage by bassist Jason LaPierre, who also plays guitar, ukulele and trombone.   Holding down the beat on drums is long-time band member Jeremy Peck, who is also a talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter.
