Don’t Forget Your Dancing Shoes

Hip-hop artist, rapper and human beat-boxer Baba Israel will join forces with a line-up of Latin and jazz musicians — Ada Rovatti, Bill O’Connell, Santi Debriano and Claes Brondal — for a Saturday night of genre fusion that The Jam Session is calling “HipLaJaz.”

“One of the main goals of this concert series is to present and showcase the wonderful world of music within the jazz umbrella and beyond,” Brondal, who organized the “LIVE from SAC” series held at the Southampton Arts Center. “The roots of rhythm and history of the Americas is the unique melting pot of world cultures and societies. We want people to experience some of the best music gumbos and genres rooted in this country. The sub-text is that all humans are interconnected and we live on this planet as one – ultimately sharing one big fat world culture.”

Tickets are $20. Doors open on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. for sangria and small bites, compliments Union Cantina, and the concert starts at 7 p.m. For more information, please call (631) 283-0967 or visit southamptonartscenter.org - Sag Harbor Express

Bio

HipLaJaz is a meeting of the roots between hip hop, latin and jazz - executed by some of the finest musicians in the field.

Free style storytelling combined with Afro/Cuban montunos and tumbaos,  multi rhythms and swinging saxophone.

HipLaJaz perform these styles in a new inspiring concept, yet deeply rooted in tradition and history.
Combining Jazz, Latin and Hip Hop is a natural evolution of musical styles as they all share common roots.
This is the first time these elements intentionally joined forces to create new music and improvisational story telling with content.

Music is a reflection of life as it is happening - HipLaJaz is the messenger of the story.
